Trunk won't close

The latch is most likely the issue. If the trunk is used a lot, the latch is misaligned or a foreign object obstructed the latch from closing. The latch itself could be damaged. Carefully inspect the opening of the latch and look for bent, mushroomed or damaged steel. I would have to see to know for sure, how to proceed.

try key in lock it might the lock might be in lock position

Trunk lock assemble could just need oiled,try that first and if no help it may need to be replaced.....please rate this post and good luck and hope info helps.

ck latch may be jammed if ok ck striker latch is in lid striker is in rear panel .

Remove the bulb if you think it runs the battery down. the switch is part of the latch assembly of the trunk.

may have a short could be a bare wire recheck the brake switch make sure that the switch is not touching and metal.

u should be able to turn the latch on back of lock inside trunk

Look at the latch on the trunk lid. Sometimes they close. Put your key in it and open it, as you do this take a screwdriver or pen and pull the latch open.

Tailgate/trunk latch will not engage so the tailgate just bounces won't close - is there something I can do to fix this on my own?
