I believe that your headlightsw are powered by a fusable link, likely connected near the alternator or battery, I't's possible that the wire may have dropped and did not get re-connected when you installed the alternator, or it was weak and failed while you were working.. I don't see why it would cause the aternator to not charge but either it also completes the battery circuit or there is a second wire.

Need a diagram and step by step instructions to replace a altenator on a 1988 jeep comanche. Cant afford to pay a mechanic going to try myself if possible.

Only have to remove or loosen the drive assy belt
& remove 2 or 3 bolts from altermator

If you need instructions, then you can't work on vehicles

How do you know the alt need replacing?
What sort of test was performed,it may be okey

It seems to be an electrical short causing the alt to overcharge the battery. Check alt directly at the alt connector. Not over 14V running under load

Altenator good battery good starts then 3minute

CHECK ALT.OUTPUT AT BAT. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON..SHOULD BE 14.5V...IF NOT YOU MOST LIKELY NEED AN ALTERNATOR.. VOLTAGE REG. IS IN ALT.

Cars lights are going bright and dim . changed out battery today and alt tested fine.car ran fine again until tonight then back to losing power

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like the regulator inside the alternator, re test altenator with the headlights off, then on, any lower reading from the altenator with the headlights on, could mean a bad regulator, in the altenator, all 1 unit altenator gets changed.

How to put on ignition switch on a '88 mazda b2200

If you mean actually replacing the ignition switch on the vehicle with a locking column. You need to do this. Dicconnect the battery, remove the lower panel of the dash if there is any. There is a bolt on the steering column near the fire wall on most vehicles, remove this bolt, it will release the spline on the steering column. Disconnect all wiring going to the column, unbolt the column from the dash support. Remove the column from the truck, on the ignition switch you will see where the two shear bolts screw the assembly together, center punch the center of each bolt. Now drill the bolt with a 1/8" drill about 1/4" to 3/8" deep. Now use a 3/8" drill and drill out the shear head until it comes off the bolt. You can now remove the switch assembly from the column. The new assembly should come with new shear off bolts so when you bolt it in place when tightned they will break off rendering it tamperproof again. Most vehicles are designed like this now to stop theft. Check the column for operation before reinstalling it in the reverse of above. You just want to make sure the key locks and unlocks the column before reinstalling in the vehicle. You may want to do this before you totally tighten the bolts and break them off permanently. Good luck, RAC
