The ECM controls the idle by movement of the pintle in the idle air control valve. The easiest check for the valve is to tap on it while the engine is running to see if the idle changes. The Idle Air Control Valve has a tendency to stick. It can be removed by 2 bolts and cleaned with a pocket knife and some carb cleaner. While you have the carb cleaner. listen carefully to the engine for sounds of hissing air. Spray the carb cleaner around the intake manifold edges and listen for the engine RPM to raise up. If the engine raises RPM there is a vacuum leak. find and repair the leak.
I'm sure the engine light must be on, If it has an IAC code it is probably the culprit.
If you have a lean code.... Have you .... ever ... changed the air filter?
