They should reset themselves or "go off" by themselves. Its possible you have instead a short or broken wire that was giving you a false indication in the first place

1-It's usually low brake fluid at the master cylinder (brake pad is worn and the brake fluid is low and then the warning light stay on.)
2-hand brake light switch
3- Depend on witch light (brake light or ABS light)
4-If it's the ABS light then you need to retrieve the faulty code.
the red brake warning lamp will illuminate if a: there is a base brake problem (low fluid) check the fluid leve if low find out now where it is going, low or worn out pads/shoes, or B: the e brake pedal is not ruturing all the way up, try pulling on the release handle while pulling the pedal up, if that fixes it find out why the pedal is falling probably needs a new ebrake pedal or new cables
Sometimes when your light comes on or code comes on, that represents being low on break fluid ,does not always mean that your fluid container is low, it also means you could have a blockage, or a leak somewhere. But more often then not, it usely is a sensor that goes to your breaks, that when pads get worn, or close to warn, there is a sensor that activates your computer and meaning there is a break issue going on. Of course sometimes it is low on fluid, but most the time it is not that. What i would do ( and its free) is hit up a les swab and have them first check all your breaks and break sensors, most likely it will be found there. Thanks Mike
If this is a brake warning light,it comes on to warn you brake pads are low
If pads have been replaced, the sensors are faulty/or fitted incorrectly
Check your owners manual to check warning light meaning
It's your disk pad wear indicator warning you of imminant replacement of pads . They ground electrically thru contact in brake pads and require attention. If light goes out it's not a level problem and cheap replacement .
brake pads are the ONLY way to stop you going like 30mph+ when you hit like a wall or person or like another road user & if you do crash YOU will be totally at fault for having an unfit car. The best way to get the lights on your dash to go out is to fit new pads. The lights show that the time when the brakes WILL fail is drawing very near, it is stilll up to you to get the pads changed. You will not get any further warnings from your car prior to not being able to stop at all thus causing endangerment. You will be shocked at just how bad they were when you feel the new pads.
