SOURCE: I have a Jaguar X

Hello. This tends to be all to do with the ABS. Some models have a reluctor ring on each cv joint near the wheel which looks like a castle moulding, but on mine there is a magnetic strip in the wheel bearing and mine corroded which reduced the signal. This caused the abs light and engine management light to come on. Without abs you cannot use the cruise control. It's not an expensive job to replace the bearing or to replace the cv joint if you have the reluctor ring but beware the dealers will try and sell you a whole drive shaft and this is not needed.

Hyundai trijet just had abs ring changed on passenger front now abs light stays on and hand break light stays on. Help.

If a wire was broken replacing the reluctor ring, this would be the ABS light. Not the brake light. Check the brake fluid, check the E brake pedal/handle. The rings do break, I just weld them back in place. If they are gone, it gets a new axle.

2002 type jaguar dsc light stability

is the ABS light on also? if so and its 4 wheel drive ie, 2.5 or 3.0 ltr then the most likely cause is a reluctor ring on one of the rear drive shafts adrift/broken

ENGINE MANAGE LIGHT IS ON ALSO ABS LIGHT IS ON WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING ARE THESE 2 LIGHTS LINKED. BECUSE I HAVE HAD THE REPAIR DONE ON THE MANAGEMENT SIDE BUT THEY TELL ME THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT UNTIL I...

If it's a 2.5 or 3.0 then probably a rear ABS sensor ring will have broken. You need a new CV joint for whichever side it is (not the complete half-shaft, despite what a garage/dealer may tell you). Cost is around £90 for parts, £70 for labour. The car can be driven in the meantime but ABS will not work and you may lose cruise control and even the speedo until it is fixed.

The engine light needs 3 complete cold-hot-cold engine cycles before it will reset itself, although a decent OBD II code reader can reset it immediately.

ABS PROBLEMS NO LIGHT ABS PULSES WHEN COMING TO A STOP

You have one of two possible problems: either the ABS sensor on at least one of the wheels has failed, or the reluctor ring has cracked on at least one axle. Cracks in relutor rings will not usually be visible to the naked eye unless the ring is thoroughly cleaned and then has a fluorescent dye applied designed for crack detection.

A failed reluctor ring is the most common cause and the most expensive, but it will not show up on the on-board ABS diagnostics system: if the ABS warning light does not briefly illuminate and then extinguish when starting the car, then it indicates an electronic fault with one of the sensors. Sensors are far cheaper to replace, but you need specialist test equipment to determine which one is at fault or a dummy substitute sensor which can be temporarily substituted for each sensor to check which one is faulty.

If the fault does end up being the reluctor ring, then if you can comfortably replace a driveshaft yourself then it's an expensive DIY job. The cost can be reduced if you can obtain the reluctor ring alone either from the vehicle manufacturer or an after-market parts supplier, but it's not easy to fit. The old one usually needs to be cut off using a cold chisel (easy:one sharp blow and it usually comes away), the mounting surface thoroughly cleaned and then the new ring usually needs heating evenly to a cherry red colour to expand it enough to fit the driveshaft. When it cools it shrinks and forms a tight interference fit. Get it wrong and you have to cut off your expensive piece of metal and start again with another new one.

ABS engages everytime, just before a full stop,on dry road conditions...2002 Envoy SLT .This happened after a front collision at a speed of 30kms.Air bags did not deploy...minor frontal damage.ABS light...

It might be a coincidence and nothing at all to do with the impact.

Lots of modern cars have abs reluctors built into the wheel bearings. This is because the external type tends to be eroded by salt and water increasing the abs sensor air gap so at low speeds an output will be lost and the brain will assume a wheel is locked and deploy the abs.
Sometimes a scale and corrosion build up will split the reluctor ring.

Before seeking more complicated solutions it would be well to ensure any exposed reluctors, sensors, air gaps and wiring at each wheel is in good order.

Amber warning lights on.

I have a 2001 xtype and the same lights came on my dash, i had it plugged up to diagnostic and it was down to a split reluctor ring on the rear wheel, this set off the abs light which in turn sets off the management light. Will cost £200, but looks quite easy to repair by self

ABS Light Lit, Engine Light Lit - Cruise Control Not operating

sounds like to me its a abs sensor or reluctor ring problem the 2 main culprits are the front abs sensor link leads one maybe open circuit or the rear driveshaft reluctor is corroded and broken you need to get the fault codes out to help decide which i would check the reluctor rings first if you look carefully at the rings with a torch and probe with a small screwdriver between the rear driveshaft joint and the hub carrier you may find the reluctor ring is adrift

Abs code c1234 jaguar x type

Had a similar problem with left abs. Garage eventually found that the notched ring on the CVJ was broken giving a false ABS reading (and warning light on). Replaced the CVJ (ring cannot be replaced independantly).
Hope this helps.
