SOURCE: 1999 porsche 996 replaced key fob battery

Assuming the car battery is ok (if not, buy a male to male cigarette lighter at the auto store and connect to another car until charged enough to unlock the doors...but don't try to crank the ignition!). The trunks won't open if the battery went dead with the alarm set because arming the alarm physically locks the releases.

Sounds like the key code is switched off because you replaced the key fob battery. Try unlocking the car manual with the key in the door lock. Then switch the ignition on to reactive the keyless entry. If this does not work, you might also try pressing the fob unlock button with the key in the door lock until the dash led flashes.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK AT FIRST

You need to look at the door lock actuators, I'm guessing 1 is operating but staying on when locked and draining the battery. Try manually locking the doors and see what happens. It may come down to removing the door trims and disconnecting each lock in turn, don't forget the boot lock, until you find the culprit. Its possible you may hear the lock solenoid humming or buzzing or feels warm as its trying to lock the door unsuccessfully.

Battery dead on clk compesser can't open boot

If the main fuse box can be provided with a 12 volt supply to the rear solenoid that opens the boot this wil trigger the lock to open . Also this can be provided to any circuit that is through to the battery BUT MUST BE DONE WITH GREAT CARE and protection.

Locked out of car and have tried key manually with no joy, battery totally flat

Hi Cruicks.
Unlock the trunk (boot) and follow the wiring through to the central locking unit for the trunk lid....find the connector plug and disconnect it....Using the cables going into the car (not those connecting to the solenoid) Get a charged battery, take two cables (not too heavy) and connect one to positive and then plug that into the socket you've disconnected....Take the other cable and connect it to the negative side of the battery...flash it onto the open hole on the connector....The locks will either open or re-lock....If that happens, reverse how you've connected the two cables....Hey presto....
