I HAVE REPLACED MY 1GR ENGINE IN MY 2007 PRADO.THE PLUG FOR THE VVT SENSOR HAS THEE PINS.THE ENGINE I HAVE PUT IN HAS ONLY 2 PINS ON THE SENSOR.WHAT DO I DO
Are the vvts interchangable from your old engine to new or with wiring diagram can find out why the extra wire i think 1 is for the ecm signal and 2 is for reference and 3 is a ground but not sure you need diagram or replace the head assmbly with old to new its a last hope but check for interchange first

hi, better check the TCV (timing control valve) located below the injection pump.
SOURCE: Location of knock sensor on 1994 toyota 22vre engine
The Knock sensor on a 22re is located under the intake manifold on the engine block. to the upper left of the oil filter. With is the passenger side of the engine. I believe it is yellow in color. Not do be confused with the oil pressure sensor which is close by. The knock sensor has a larger electrical connector. Good luck it can be hard to get to.
SOURCE: p0051 code, where is the sensor located, where is
Bank 2 is passenger side, sensor 1 is the one up closest to the exhaust manifold. Plug in type (just remove old and plug back into the wiring harness connector) is about $90 at Autozone. You can get a cheaper one that you splice but it's confusing to understand which wires to splice together. Don't forget to buy the special socket, $10, to remove and install the sensor. It's split up the side for the wires. Forget trying to use an open end wrench, socket is best.
SOURCE: '03 Toyota Corolla 1,4 VVT-i 4ZZ engine idle rpm
Idle is factory set and cannot be adjusted, your best bet is checking for cracked hose pipework for air intake at idle,(not at problem under exceleration and driving) Any slight upset to the air /fuel ratio will be most prevelent at idle speeds.Check hoses where the meet metal flanges on manifold intakes and any sharp bends in ppipes.Good luck
