SOURCE: Engine dies after 20 minutes or so and then will not start again for 10 to 15 min.

Sounds like it could be an ignition module (controls the coil), often when they begin to fail they are fine when cold but die when they get hot. If you do replace it make sure you disconnect the battery first, and that the mounting surface is cleaned first, and that you then put the supplied heatsink paste thinly across the mounting surface before installation.

SOURCE: 95 dodge caravan with no start problem.

Connect a timing light to the number one plug wire and crank the engine. Does the light flash indicating that the Number one is firing? Look at the distributor. If you have a distributor cap and rotor assembly remove the distributor cap and crank the engine. If the rotor turns check the rotor to make sure there is a good contact point and check the distributor cap to ensure there are good contacts. If either is damaged or worn replace them both. If the rotor does not turn you have a broken timing belt or one of the timing belt/chain guides has jammed and the engine needs to be rebuilt.

SOURCE: not turning over

it may be out of gas. all chrysler products especially the trucks/jeeps had problems with running out of gas when the guage would say between 1/8 tank to 3/8 tank. heres how to check. open hood remove cap on fuel rail pressure check port [it looks like a tire valve cap] crank engine briefly then push the pintle in the pressure check valve[it is the same setup as a tire valve stem] if air comes out or a little fine sray and air its out of gas. if no air or gas comes out then the fuel pump isnt working. if its just out of gas you can buy a new fuel level sending unit to fix the guage.

Vehicles equipped with the PASS-KEY or VATS anti-theft system usually require the system be reset whenever the battery is drained or replaced. Follow this procedure.
Step 1 - Attempt to start the vehicle. It will crank, but not run. The security light will be flashing on and off. Leave the key in the run/on position for exactly 10 minutes, then the security light will stay solid or go off.
Step 2 - Turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds. Attempt to start the vehicle. Some vehicles will run at this point, although many will require you repeat repeat Step 1 two more times. Make sure turn the key to the 'off' position for 10 seconds before each 10 minute cycle.
Step 3 - The vehicle is now ready to relearn the proper code. Turn the key 'off' for 10 seconds and then 'crank' the vehicle. It should be running now. The security light might stay on solid for several minutes afterwards, depending on your system.

Why wont my 98 Dodge Dekota Sport stay running?

the crank sensor can give these symptoms and some vehicle makes OBD do not capture all the fault codes , i would try a replacement crank sensor they are not expensive and are usually very easy to replace , go to a Dodge dealer as there may be an up graded sensor because of this very reason , i.e Renault included a longer wiring connection as this was the cause with there vehicle's , i know you dont need to know that but just trying to illustrate that there some known faults with many vehicle makes so a main dealer will know of them

I have a 1998 dodge dokota pickup 3.9 liter engine that want start can somone help me?

reset the computer ... by disconnecting the battery competely (positive AND negative) AND LEAVE IT DISCONNECT FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. Then turn everything OFF in the vehicle (AC, Radio, etc....) reconnect Negative terminal first then positive. Don't crank it yet!! Turn the key to on position and leave it there for 1 minute..then off for 1 minute... Do that 3 times. No crank it up. If still no fire you need and ignition module.. get a refund on the cam sensor..they rarely are the problem.. (even though the diagnostics seem to point a finger at them quite regularly).... One last thing DON'T GO PAYING FOR A NEW MODULE...Call a scrap yard and they each probably have a room full of them.. cost you say $20-$40. Hope this info helps!

Where is the crank position sensor located?

its not your crank positioning sensor. all the CPS does is control your spark plugs up to around 500 rpms (while trying to start) once started the ECM takes over that function in conjuction with your cam position sensor

I have a 2004 kia rio manual trans. it will crank but wont start. the cam shaft pos. sensor code was read off the car. erased, then came back on after i tried to start the car again. we already replaced...

Did you reset the code after replacing the sensor? If it is accessable you may want to try to wiggle or hold the camshaft position sensor while cranking to see if this helps. On most of the vehicles I have had a problem with this sensor, most won't even crank when there is a sensor issue. So you may have another problem on your hands.
