No temp condition given; however, long cranking not best starting practice. Better short crank, pause half minute, crank again. Do not prime or pump before, during, or after pump but let computer control the run. Pedal use interferes with computer control of run start.

check the compresion in all cylinders 100 psi (compression good) check the spark -check the fuel pressure.30 psi at gauge with switch on.(if no keep pressure with switch off injectors or fuel pressure regulator are bad
check the signal to the injectors (get little injectors tester at autoparts) if no signal check the ground to the injectors black wire
or the other wire (computer)= good signal to injectors and good fuel pressure and good spark (defective injectors)

97 dodge Dakota cranks but will not start checked the fuel pumo n its good any ideas it keeps cranking but won't turn on

Fuel, spark and compression. Needs at least 30 psi to run at all, check for spark ,at the coil first. Pull the coil wire out so it has like a 1/4 of an inch gap from the coil ,either watch or listen for the spark,it's way hot ,60,000 volts or so,don't touch it,you can hear it or see it. If there is nothing, bad news ,could be the spendy control module.
If it is ok ,move on to the cap,do the same thing for any plug wire.if there is nothing,it's in the distrubitor,

1996 suburban with 5.7l have good fuel pressure, sparks at the plugs, cranks with starter fluid but wont crank when i disconnect the crank sensor.

when you say good fuel pressure is it 55 psi with the key on and engine off? any thing less then 50 psi will not start the engine. if the engine starts with starter fluid then the problem is in the fuel system.

97 GMC yukon 5.7 vortex cranks but wont start i used to hear the fuel pump when i turn the key on but now i dont cked all the fuses and relay, OK help!!!!

You should try removeing the fuel filter its under the drivers door mounted to the frame then crank the engine to see if you are ectaly getting fuel flow to the rear of the filter from the pump if you are then replace the filter but honstly the most likely cause is the pump is no good these pumps last about 10 years there were problems with themand the new ones have many upgrades that correct these problems .If you can fix it with the filter you will still have to think about replaceing the pump in the near future if its the orgenial one if you want to keep the vehicle running

Had same exact problem on my 97 k1500, although it would crank after shutting off it just would not start. I fixed the problem by replacing the fuel pump in the tank. I learned that the 5.7 liter needs something like 80 psi to start but will run on around 55-60 psi (fuel pressure)

Car will not start I hve a 97 chev caviler 5 speed manul. I have had it towed to a Tireman loacation to try to start t. They say that al clyinders have a compression problem. Any ideas about fixing it?

The timing chain may have went bad. Causing the pistons to come up and hit and bend the open valves, if the valves don't close completely, you'd have no compression. I would remove the valve cover and verify that everything is operating.
