Check for loose clips, cracked hose or maybe change a gasket or seal but first identify the leak. Don't take long. You may fry your head gasket

Fix it fast before it turns into worst possible scenario: over heat with blown head gasket.

SOURCE: Coolant Leak

rear cylinder block core plug its behind the bell housing. It has been caused by running the engine with no antifreeze which also acts as an anti corrosion inhibitor .

SOURCE: after topping coolant levels up and driving for

It is surely a leak ,the coolant can go anywhere like apart from leaking, what is happening is when you are driving it leaks because there is more pressure in the radiator and it leaks somewhere ,why you don't see it,it is because the coolant is so hot and when the coolant when it leaks then hit the engine that is also hot, this make the leak coolant to evaporates very quickly that why you don't see it.Well what you have to do is top the coolant level, let someone start the engine you lift the bonnet standing in front of it,then tell the person inside the car to accelerate up 3000 rpm for near 10 minutes, then you watch carefully the radiator, hose and all the connection for the cooling system you will surely find the leaks where it comes from.Hope that clear your mind and solve it.

2014 chevrolet cruze 1.8l what can cause a coolant leak some where the thermostat housing?

there has been a recall on some year cruz about coolant leaks. Check with NHSTA.gov to see if you are included. If not you will have to replace housing hoses and any plastic connections around thermostat housing that carry coolant.
Chevy Cruze Antifreeze or coolant leaks typically appear in the thermostat housing of affected vehicles, though it can also leak from the recovery tank house or the throttle body heater inlet pipe in cars with 1.8L engines

I am having difficulty locating it. I need to know how to locate and replace a thermostat on a 2002 ford escape

Follow the top radiator hose down to where it connects to the engine. You should find a dome shape item or a couple of smaller bolts that attach to the engine to the side of the radiator hose and the thermostat will be inside the housing. You will need to drain the radiator, remove the bolts holding the thermostat housing to the engine and remove the old stat and put in a new one be sure to make note of how the stat is facing when you remove it and put the new one in the same way. then reconnect the thermostat housing making sure the gasket is in place so it won't leak, then refill the radiator slowly so you don't cause an air lock in the radiator, with cap still off start the engine and allow it to warm up until the stat opens and then you will need to add more antifreeze to the system. Double check for any leaks. Turn on the heater and make sure you have good heat and you should be good

I can't think of a reason why he would have had to remove the T0stat housing to replace a timing belt. Even if he had, it would have failed right away, not 3 months later

Is this the only place it leaks. These cars are notorious for head gasket & intake gasket leaks. Have the coolant system pressure tested for any other leaks. You also may have cracked the thermostat housing when the thermostat was not seated properly. Check the flow rate through the rad. The rad may be blocking up or the water pump impellor may be loose in the water pump. Hope this helps. Good luck!

My lincoln ls, ran hot, I replace the theremostat, and now it keeps ejecting the coolant, what could that be?

If the thermostat wasn't seated properly in the housing, or the gasket got damaged or displaced it will cause a leak. Check at the site where the thermostat fits. Make sure the thermostat and gasket are seated correctly and the housing is bolted down properly. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the housing or it could crack.

OVERHEATS AFTER THERMOSTAT REMOVED

take fan belt off so water pump does not turn. take thermostat housing off. make sure water level is close to top of thermostat housing (inside) start it, look for air bubbles... If you get them it is due to leaking headgasket, this will be the cause of your overheating and I suspect it's pushing water out too... Just a guess with the limited details.
