Hi there.
Well it sounds just like a sized engine .as if was only the water pump the engine would still turn over, but with out hearing the noise it hard to judge SO take the fan belt off first, then check the water pump if it turns ok try the starter again ,if it dosent do any thing hold the key to start for 5 seconds and then turn off and then check the pos term on batter
If its hot then its the engine starter motor or seized .

I would put a socket wrench on crank shaft bolt and attempt to turn clockwise first will not turn then try CCW if bolt comes loose then engine is frozen.

SOURCE: Loud squealing noises when I turn the wheel of my 2000 ford range

It sounds like the power steering belt is too loose, tighten it up a bit but not too much just enough to make slipping belt stop.

SOURCE: just replaced belt and alternator. Engine squeals very loud when started. What should I check next? belt tension seems good.

Sounds like the new alternator was run without first fully charging the battery (12.3 - 12.8 volts)
This will destroy an alternator every time -- the classic symptom is a squealing belt.

SOURCE: 4x4 on a 2001 s10

when the transfer case shifts into 4wd it activates a vaccum switch on the transfer case which sends vaccum to the accuator for the front axle. the accuator pulls a cable that locks in the axle. the switch on the transfer case is a well known problem. check for vaccum in and out of this switch in 4wd. if you have vaccum out then check the accuator under the battery. If the vaccum switch on the transfer case is bad you can find one at most parts store in the HELP section #49315. please rate if this helps

SOURCE: When I go to turn the wheel in my 2000 ford ranger

The power steering pump is normally connected or driven by the engine with a V-belt. A loose belt can cause squealing as soon as the power steering come under load (e.g. steering left or right while stopped).

Check the tension on the V-belt directly connected to the power steering pump. This may need replacement.

Hoep this helps.

SOURCE: ford focus serpintine belt squeal

I would check the pulleys,by removing the belt, and checking the play in the pulleys, and make sure they are not trying to lock up,then replace the belt, gates belts(napa)are the best, cost a little salty, but they do not squeal. To get you by a little while, use axle grease,or front end grease, and rub it on the grip side of the belt,it will not wear off,and will stop the noise.

My 2005 mustang squeals on start-up and when the a/c is on. Serpentine belt was recently replaced. Any ideas of what could be happening?

Make sure belt is tight and no oil or grease on pulleys. If that fails check each pulley to make sure it is turning freely especially the AC.

Ford f250 dash lites up w/key on wont start dead

Squeal? Did you check your belt to make sure it didn't snap . If it did your alternator wasn't giving the battery charge. It is either that or a bearing is gone on the Idler pulley . Oils good, transmission fluids good , battery has a charge over 13 v engine coolant is good? If all that pans out and you changed the cylinode switch on the wheel fender passenger side then, I'd look on the wire that goes off of that. There is an in line fuse . If it. Blew your dead in the water.

Why would My 2005 ford van made a squeal then cut off?

Taking the key out may not have had anything to do with the problem. You might have just waited a minute and started the engine.
Usually a squeal is something making the belt slip. It could be a bearing failure for one of the pulleys, or oil on the belt. If one of the pulleys locked up that could kill the engine. The alternator or water pump are prime suspects.

2000 montero sport: There's a loud squealing noise coming from the engine. What could be wrong?

Squealing is most common with loose or worn belts, I would start by replacing the drive belt on the front of the motor and go from there, Its easier to troubleshoot a squealing motor if you know that the belt or belts are good.

It squeals from the time i start the engine and continues throughout my trip untill i turn it off. Then when i start it again, it may or may not. If it doesnt squeal the moment i turn it on, then it d

Squeals are usually belts or bearings, check your serpentine belt for cracks and damage . There are it'd products like stop squeal you can use on your belt. If its the belt it will work, otherwise check bearings on all pulleys.
