SOURCE: how to line crank and cam for timing belt on 1988 no crank marks

Hard to explain here... but I believe that car also has the balance shaft which needs to be timed as well. The camshaft has 2 lines which line up to the top of the head, and a "up" or "top" mark at the top.
Crank is set to 0 degrees.

SOURCE: My daughter had the timing belt break on my 1991

its hard to tell, sometimes they would..... but easy to check before hand, take the valve cover off and check valve clearance as if you were going to adjust the valves, if any valves have way too much clearance the valve is bent.. The valve spec is on a decal under the hood.

I need to know where the timing marks need to be for a 1991 honda accord 1321 ci displacement

If you have not removed any of the pulleys that the belt goes around or you know they are in the correct positions on their shafts, the timing pointer must be aligned with the white mark on the flywheel(at the view port); the cam pulley must be set so that small dot or the word UP is vertical and the marks on the edges of the pulley are aligned with the surface of the head(you might have to use a straight edge to check).
Hope this helps you.

What are the timing gear specifications for 1992 Honda Accord 2.2L. am replacing the timing belt and gear & need to align timing marks. thanks

manualy turn the engine over to the first cylinder. (place screwdriver in cylinder through spark plug hole) when the pistion is all the way up that is top of cylinder #1 . at this point ther should be marks on the gears and on the block that align. if not than mark them your self with a paint marker. now loosen the tensioner to remove belt, and install new belt. be careful that all marks are still aligned that is a zero clerance engine. meaning that being one tooth off will colaps a valve.

Info about timing belt

Chances are slim. Just align your marks, install a new belt and without any sparkplugs, turn the engine by hand. If anything's hitting, you'll feel it.

Leak from the water pump

  • first of all you are probably going to need a torque wrench for the crank shaft pulley bolt it has 225lbs.of torque or more.I just did one on my 1991 honda accord dx .you have to take off a/c belt ,alternator etc. on the crank pulley.(I took it to a shop and they heated the 3/4 in. bolt and used torque wrench. I broke a half inch breaker bar trying to get it offf) next use puller to take off crankshaft pulley.support motor and remove motor mount bracket. take off upper and lower timing belt covers.take off timing belt and other belt using the tensioners.take off and replace water pump CHECK ALL TIMING MARKS with #1 piston@TDC. There are about 6.
