Use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the glass. This will soften the glue which holds the mirror onto actuator. Gently pry the mirror off. the actuator can then be unscrewed and removed.

SOURCE: Replace passenger side power mirror clearance lamp (bulb only).

If you are facing the passenger side mirror adjust the top (large) mirror so that it is turning in towards the truck as far as it will go. Then look behind the mirror in the bottom righthand corner (outside bottom corner) and you will see a silver metal clip. Take a straight head screw driver and push on that clip and the lens will pop out. Then you simply unscrew the bulb holder from the lens and replace your bulb. Good luck!

SOURCE: need to replace driver side mirror of an 2008 ford

You can buy stick on replacement mirror glass for most models in good motor accessory shops. These just stick on to the existing glass if there is enough left to stick it to.
If not the dealer will supply the glass seperately but its a little tricky to fit and might be well worth letting them fit it too as it is very easy to break while fitting.

SOURCE: How to replace driver side mirror on a 2005 ford focus.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

Muth makes the signal mirrors for repalcing the glass in the mirror head. On the site, they have nice instructions you can use for removing the door panel, and getting the mirror off ( obviously stop at the removing the glass part, and just replace with the mirror head you already have ).

Enter the Make, MY, and model you have, and on the products page are the links to the PDF version of the instructions for download.

They make a replacement mirror glass available that uses double sticky tape. This has worked great for me. The heated function still continued to work!! Confirm the dimensions before purchasing. Some car manufactures have more than one design for different model cars same year..

Need to get a "backing

I need the same thing for a 2004 Explorer Sportrac. I can't find the "backing plate" either. Only the glass. No junkyard will sell me only the plate and glass. I did find a complete mirror assembly (housing, gasket, glass) for $37.89. This includes shipping. I got it from partsgeek.com. It just arrived today and looks to be perfect. I have not installed it yet. Hope this helps you out.

Install a replacement mirror glass on passanger side for a 1999 ford crown victora

If you shop around you can quite often find a glass shop who will gladly go outside and attach a replacement glass mirror to your vehicle with no extra charge than the glass would cost you at any maintenance shop.
They are usually considerate enough to use painters tape to hold it in place until the adhesive dries. Check it out and tell me if I'm wrong.

Side mirror inside glass hanging ford explorer

it depends on whats 'hanging', if JUST the mirror glass has come off it's plastic backing plate, then yes you can silicone it back into place. If the mirror glass AND the plastic backing plate are hanging, you can try to 'snap' the backing plate back into the mirror head but most likely something inside is broken and the mirror head will have to be replaced. for a better idea on reinstalling or replacing a mirror see: www.burcinc.com and for aftermarket replacement mirror heads see: www.directauto.com
hope this helps.
