How Do you Remove the Driver Side Kick Panel on a 2014 F-150?
I want to remove the drivers side kick panel to see if there is an electrical plug that I can slide a flat push pin along side the wiring connector of a wire that is only hot when the key is on for a radar detector. I don't want to damage the panel removing it and so far pulling on it hasn't brought it off like the passenger side with the fuses behind it which came off very easily.
No, it has a 12v auxiliary plug.. that does not work off the ignition switch, it is hot all the time. I want the garmin and radar detector to energize when the truck starts and de-energize when the engine is shut down. A cigarette lighter which the truck doesn't have, but it does have a 12v auxilary socket that is always energized keeping the garmin and radar detector energized when it is not necessary.No, it has a 12v auxiliary plug.. that does not work off the ignition switch, it is hot all the time. if it were me and i'm not a pro.. remove the driver side door panel and i would waste a little more wire and wire it straight into the power door lock on the drivers side that way you should avoid and computer issues as you know you are wired in behind the relays again I'm not a pro i'm just a weekend shade tree guy
The interior trim panel down at floor level in front of the door. It is the side panel down where your feet go.
Remove this kick panel and you are likely to see the ground point for the power windows. Sometimes manufacturers put relays behind this panel, too.
Hi Leeanne
If it is an injected model, here is the AllData instructions;
CIRCUIT OPENING RELAY (that is what it's called).
On Camry, Celica Corolla RWD and Van models, remove glove box. On Pickup and 4Runner models, remove right kick panel, glove box and speaker. On MR2 models, remove rear luggage compartment trim. On Cressida and 1985---Early 1986 Supra models, remove left kick panel. On Corolla FWD models, remove ECU cover from behind center console. On late 1986---1988 Supra models, remove right side kick panel.
Remove circuit opening relay with wiring from bracket.
Insert voltmeter positive probe into rear of connector at Fp terminal.
Meter should read battery voltage during cranking and while engine is running.
Disconnect electrical connector from relay and measure resistance between terminals.
If relay fails to perform satisfactory, relay is defective.
There is also a main relay on the left side. This will control the ECU
