it would make sense because in a lot of cars, the screen for the backup camera is integrated into the infotainment system (which includes the radio).
I'm surprised the dealer didn't' just recommend an infotainment system to replace your radio with. You might call another Hyundai dealer and ask them to recommend an infotainment system which includes a backup camera integration. They should be able to handle the full installation.
my 17th post for this, (new record) searches do work....
ill not paste in the full operators guide this time, just 2 lines.
you didnt read the oper.guide and backup the code.!! so....
so off to dealer you go..... sorry.
ok , one more line, any good lic. lock smith shop, too.......
Make sure the battery is fully charged before installing it. Some manufactuers have problems with electronics working with a low charge.
You may be able to get a scan on your vehicle with a more advanced scanner like a Dealer uses. You will not get any readings with the built-in system unless a "check engine" light is on.
The onboard computer can be bypassed with a Dealer unit which directly communicates with the vehicle components. The Dealer computer directly reads the engine controls and a Technician can ask different questions through this hookup.
Yes, it is possible for the vehicle to relearn its operating perameters.
Also wire your backup camera to a power line that is shut off when the car is off. Some people use the backup switch or backup lights to power the camera.
I had similar intermittent camera problem after it got worse I decided to get fix. I took picture on way to dealer to show the problem this made no difference since it did not prove it came from my car. The service manager said they had to duplicate the problem before they could fix since it could be caused by wiring, radio or camera. I assume it would not happen at the dealer and made myself a pain while I waited to see if they could duplicate. After an hour of waiting I check to see the status and the manger said they were replacing the camera. A week later and the camera has worked perfectly.
They cannot do this over the phone./and won't..they dont know you or if anything is stolen. Procedure.. Stop at a chevy dealer or any GM dealer, they can retrieve a backup code out of the radio..by pushing some buttons. Then they call in to the delco center using the backup code and obtain a new unlock code. They can enter the code to unlock the radio. If by chance a code has been entered incorrectly 3 or more times, then they will have to let the car sit with the key in the on postion for an hour before entering new codes.
