Boot latch stuck button depresses but wont release. tried getting access through back seat but car frame work too narrow to reach mechanism please help
Not sure if the 2006 models are similar to the 1996 models in this aspect, but I will assume they are. In the center console (the junk box) at the back is a switch (Valet), when this switch has been pressed, the glove box and the boot (trunk), can only be opened with the Master key being physically inserted into the lock (the hole next to the model label on the boot), this is so that the valet with only the valet key (green key), can not get access to your luggage/valuables. Once it has been physically unlocked with the master key (black key), it will again open by poking kitty on the nose (button press).

SOURCE: Unlocking Boot lid
I am assuming your problem is similar to mine; the key fob isn't dead, but for some reason the boot won't release. This happens rarely, but can be very frustrating (and embarrassing)!
When neither the key fob nor the release on the boot work, lock and unlock the car, and insert the key into the ignition. Turn the key to the second stage, i.e. the accessories are powered, and then remove the key. This ought to allow you to use the fob again.
SOURCE: electrochromic rear view mirror does not dim when turned on
These mirrors are all made by one company, no matter the car maker, they all have the same problems, they are very unreliable, if u have power to the mirror which I am 100% sure u do the mirror will need to be replaced, they are not repairable they are about $250-300
SOURCE: My key won't open the trunk of my car. Jaguar XJ6
May not be the answer but something I just learned. I was handed the "key" to my aunt's XJ6 and she asked me to clean it up for her,,, but what I found was that the "key" she handed me was the VALET key and would not open the trunk. I had to go back and get the other key from her. The VALET key was green while the masters that open all are black.
SOURCE: My 2004 Jaguar xj8 will not release both latches
If your bonnet will not release, there is a rubber plug inside fender located up in
the wheel well under the latch. Remove the plug, stick a screwdriver up and pry the latch
back. The hood / bonnet will open.
SOURCE: what does the boot open mean on a jaguar
the BOOT is the English word describing the trunk (US for the rear access panel, door, for access to the spare wheel, storage for tools etc)
