SOURCE: Honda civic wont start there is a clicking sound,

Hi I'm litoshop first check all the fuses be sure there's not a blown fuse then if the starter still clicks when you try to start tap the start with something lite and if it starts then you need to repair or replace starter good luck if this information has been useful please let us know thank you

Why wont my 1989 honda civic start ? i replaced the starter and battery, wont start, not even off a jump start, but will off a push start get a dull thud sound from the main relay, could it be bad ?

Your Civic has a manual tranny - correct? The problem could be a bad Clutch Safety switch. Many Hondas are listed as having this switch with the manual tranny. The switch prevents the car from starting if the tranny is in gear and the clutch is not depressed, preventing the car from lunging forward. If the switch is there , it is located on the clutch pedal bracket. The switch has two wires, so if you remove the electrical plug from the switch and jump the plug, maybe the car will start? Good Luck!!!

2004 Honda Civic V-6 engine wont crank at times, sometimes it will work for six or so start-ups then nothing for several key cyclings. I have had the battery out recently and that is when the problem...

honda civic engine should be 1.7 base or v-tech 4 cylinder.make sure the car is in park or if it is a stick that the clutch switch is engaged with the pedal down and the park brake set. You may want to have someone sitting in the car to hold the brake. check the power to the starter wire if it is getting power to the solenoid start wire the small wire with the push on clip. If it is you can try to jump the starter solenoid blade to the battery cable post on the starter solenoid. I use a short wrench anything metal dont touch anything but the post to the blade or it will ground out and make sparks. If you prefer to bench test the starter you wuld have to remove the starter first. some hondas have a computer chip securty that interupts the starter the one I saw had an eye you can put your finger in it its rounded on one end with the hole to put your finger through it on that end and the other end is sqare. If that isnt slid into the slot. The car wont start. bottom line I think your starter solenoid is bad replace the starter after the jump test on the starter if it doesnt turn over.

Friends 1997 honda civic wont start or take a jump just dead. any ideas

Can not charge a dead battery, that is very old or bad internally. If battery is new or you borrow a good one to proceed, you have the cables.bad grounds, starter issues. If you have no veh or electrical knowledge you know what to do. Pay the repair shop

1983 honda civic wont start now

hi have you checked the leads from battery to starter are secure ? also important that the negative earth lead from battery to the engine is also secure and in good condition on the starter you should have main cable from battery and a thinner cable both connected to solenoid on one terminal ? then a thin wire to a small push on terminal? this wire is the key start wire which energises the slenoid/starter
