Holden engine 1996 statesman with a v6 supercharged engine runs rough at idle only .Have you any idears where 2 look first ??

your VT /VX came out with a V8 engine
you need the engines ECU and the V8 gearbox
manual diff ratios can be optional

1997 -2002 engines will bolt in

you could go up the next commy V8 model it has roller rockers
you can have a v6 or v8 supercharged if you like

once all bolted in you need a mutt 2 diagnostic reader to reset all the keys and modules and immobilizer for it to start and run

There can be numerous issues that can cause this. The next step is to have the car scanned for fault codes so a proper diagnosis can be done from there.

So take the car to Holden service or to a competent Holden specialist that has the right scan equipment for your car and knows these engines.

Im assuming the alternator your replacing is on a v6 statesman.
1.disconnect battery
2.remove engine cover
3.remove drive belt
.remove 10mm bolt that holds bracket from eng to alternator
4.remove all wiring from the rear of alternator.
5.remove the 2 bolts that holds the alternator to engine.
6.wiggle alternator and it will slip out.;
7.refit new alternator in these steps but reversed.
8.once up and running again please make sure you check the system charge rate..

I've just put L67 vacuum lines into "images" on bing and got all sorts of pictures, start there?

Have a repair shop use a scan tool
& check for cylinder misfire counts
& diagnose the problem

Go to library and see if they have repair manual for this car. Otherwise buy one at dealer.

first off , vacuum lines vary by engine. and country
in 1992 there are many SMOG vacuum lines that vary by the laws of your country, .
IS this a HOLDEN CAR, WITH l67 ENGINE>? 1992.
the only way to get this is at HOLDEN and buy the FSM.

Is engine light on? Check for codes . Most likly Tempeture sensor is out of range.

to bleed the cooling system on a vs supercharged statesman .

Makes sure you have coolant in the radiator and over flow botthe.

turn the heater to the on position and on high.

make sure you have plenty more coolant close by.

with the radiator cap off and the engine idling .

now top coolant up and place radiator cap on.

increase idle revs so the system pressurises.

now the system is warm and pressure .

you can open the bleeder 1 by 1 starting at the highest point.

1st couple of times you open the system you will get a lot of air ,you can stop bleeding this nipple once there is a good stream of coolant flowing.

do the same with other nipples as there is 3 bleeders in total.

Once all air is out do not open radiator cap again top coolant up in overflow bottle only.

double check coolant level again when its cold ..

cylinder head gasket or a valve stuck slightly open you can get valve cleaning spray from halfords spray in to air intake while engine running should free valve otherwise head gasket renew
