Why is my ford escort unibody rusted through - 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Coupe

Figure out where there is a secure place to bolt where there is no rust and than you could always weld longer bolt plates to it..

try to clean the clutch plate with an nourishing oil or other lubricants that remove rusts. or if u have money change the plate so u can have a peace of mind using it.

All F bodies are uni-body, there never was one with a full frame.

thats because the end of the bolt is rusty,and has expanded slightly with the rust.(did you know that a rusty bolt is heavier the a clean one.....)

You have a easy problem.
Remove both rear wheels and the 2 philip head screwes either hold a good philips screwdriver hard on to the screws and hit the end of s/driver with a hammer and at the same time twisting to the left (hit about 3 or 4 times )if dosent come undone then get a centre punch and put the pointed end on to the left hand side of the screw and 1 hit will loosing it off if not 2 hits but must be to the l/h/side of screw then ondo it with the s/driver finished unless the drum is also rusted on then hit the drum from behind on the edge a few times to break the rust.
CLEAN UP THE CENTRE OF DRUM WITH A FILE BEFORE REFITTING

They are probably rusted to the hub.Take a ball-ping hammer and with the round end tap rotor between the studs.

I had this problem on my '98 Ford Escort ZX2.
It did not need a new blower but a $15 Blower Motor Resistor.  The wires and connectors rusted out.

The rotor is not held on by the big nut, it slides on and off, only the wheel holds it on, the clearance between the rotor and the front hub which the large nut holds on is very small, rust forms and the rotor gets stuck, use a hammer or a large piece of wood if you plan to reuse the rotor and hit it from side to side, spray penetrating oil to loosen the rust, it is a bugger but it will come loose, then make sure to wire brush all the rust off or wheel retention may be compromised.

You're on the right track. It's going to take breaking up the rust and getting a large wrench to get some leverage and twist it off.

the first thing i will recomend you, is ti buy the new rotors first,
sisnce you did not mention if you allready have the new ones
and see if they are slide out type rotorss or one piece rotor assy
with the lugn nuts, sometimes they just slide out but sometimes you need to remove the center big nut in order to remove them.
