SOURCE: How do you replace the fuel pump in 1992 2wd Subaru Legacy Wagon

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the rear exhaust pipe and muffler assembly.
  4. On All Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles, remove the rear differential assembly and the rear crossmember. You do not have AWD so this step is not for you
  5. Remove the fuel filler cap and drain the fuel into a suitable container.
  6. Remove the fuel filler pipe protector.
  7. Raise and support the vehicle safely on jackstands.
  8. Remove the fuel filler, air vent and delivery hoses.
  9. On AWD vehicles, disconnect the air breather hoses and evaporation hose from the pipes.
  10. Support the fuel tank with a floor jack or equivalent lifting device.
  11. Loosen the attaching bolts and lower the fuel tank slightly.
  12. Disconnect the fuel pump harness

SOURCE: were is the starter located in a subaru legacy

On the drivers side where the motor and transmission join on the top, you should see the starter. Your main hot or red battery cable should lead right to it. It has 2 bolts holding it. 1 is the bolt to hold starter and trans together, the other just holds the starter. Hope this helps and have a great day.

SOURCE: why is my 1996 subaru legacy not getting fuel?

but if you have no fuel pressure it wont start. Spray some quick start. If it starts then you need to test for fuel pressure. If none or low, replace fuel pump.

SOURCE: 1996 subaru legacy fuel pump

It's way up under the dash on the drivers side. It's green in color. It will be to the left of the ignition relay which is brown in color.

Trying to change the fuel pump on a 1997 Subaru Legacy Wagon? Will I have to drop the tank? Any additional instructions would be much appreciated! Thank You!

The fuel pump is located behind the rear seat on the passenger side. Remove the upholstery cover to expose the metal oval cover which will expose the fuel pump. D/C the neg terminal and the electrical connector. Remove the nuts to release the fuel pump from the tank. Only now you can release the fuel hoses. Reverse the procedure to reinstall the new fuel pump.

Where is the fuel pump relay on a 1998 Legacy Outback AWD wagon?

The fuel pump relay is located under the dash on the drivers side. If I remember correctly there are 3 relays next to each other and the fuel pump relay is the middle one.
