I just fixed my car, it was the spark plug wires leading to the wrong plugs, it runs like a champ now. Just did my first burn-out! :)

sounds like ignition module inside of distributor cap under distributor rotor button.these do go bad and can easily be replaced.strong suspicion from your details that this is the culprit.

Your vehicle as an ignition control module located on top of the distributor (under the cap and rotor) I would pull the ICM and take it to NAPA and have it tested if bad replace it (cost about $80). Sounds like a ICM problem or it could be the ignition switch located on the steering coloum which can't be tested but costs $20. Hope this works

1998 Chevy Cav.

The reason you have that code is because the engine is running rich. I would pull the plugs out and check them also check the plug wires. also when have you changed the fuel filter. check the fuel pressure may have a bad pump.

1996 chevy z24 2.4 car has a hard time starting and staying runni

When is the last time you changed the plugs and or wires. Possibly a bad coil. You can also check the fuel injectors to see if they are spraying correctly. Also check the fuel filter. It should be inline under the car just look for the lines when you crawl underneath. If none of that is the issue let me know

Check the crankshaft position sensor. If the plug is loose or the sensor itself is bad it will cause similar problems

1988 chevt chevy cavalier

check to see if you can hear the fuel pump running.just cycle the key to the on position but dont turn over the motor you should hear a humming sound come from the fuel tank.if no sound check your fuses if all ok could be a bad fuel pump
or check to see if you have spark if no spak then it could be the module inside your distributor cap.it also controls the fuel pump.
