REMOVAL
1. Remove the timing chain. 2. Remove the oil pan. 3. Remove the three (A) oil pump screen and cover bolts and the (B) oil pump screen and cover. 4. Remove the two oil pump bolts and the oil pump.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean and inspect the mating surfaces. 2. Install the oil pump and loosely install the two oil pump bolts. 3. Install the oil pump screen and cover and install the three oil pump screen and cover bolts. 4. Install the timing chains. 5. Install the oil pan.
5.2L and 5.9L Engines
It is necessary to remove the oil pan, and to remove the oil pump from the
rear main bearing cap to service the oil pump.
Drain the engine oil and remove the oil pan.
Remove the oil pump mounting bolts and remove the oil pump from the
rear main bearing cap.
To install:
Install the pump and tighten the cover bolts to 95 inch lbs. (11
Nm).
Prime the oil pump before installation by filling the rotor cavity
with engine oil. Install the oil pump on the engine and tighten attaching bolts
to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm).
Install the oil pan.
Fill the engine with the proper grade motor oil. Start the engine and
check for leaks.
M62 ENGINE TURN OFF RADIO FIRST. YOU NEED TO INSTALL A MEMORY SAVER BEFORE DISCONNECTING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. TO KEEP FROM LOSING PCM MEMORY. TO REMOVE OIL PUMP.YOU NEED TO LOWER OIL PAN.REMOVE THE LEFT AND RIGHT ENGINE MOUNTS AT THE BOTTOM.REMOVE POWER STEERING PUMP AT THE HOLDER.REMOVE OIL PIPES AT THE POWER STEERING PUMP ALSO ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, REMOVE BANJO BOLT FOR THE OIL RETURN PIPE FROM THE OIL FILTER AT THE OIL PAN.REMOVE THE MOUNTING BOLT ON THE SPROCKET FOR THE OIL PUMP AND REMOVE THE SPROCKET ALONG WITH THE CHAIN,REMOVE 3 OIL PUMP MOUNTING BOLTS AND REMOVE THE OIL PUMP.REMOVE THE OIL PIPES OUT OF THE CRANKCASE. BEFORE INSTALLING NEW OIL PUMP, CHECK SEALS ON THE OIL PIPES AND REPLACE IF IT NECESSARY.LUBRICATE THE SEALS WITH OIL AND THE OIL PIPES.CHECK THE SEAL IN THE OIL PUMP AND REPLACE IF NECESSARY, SCREW THE HEXAGON ADAPTER BACK INTO THE OIL PUMP UNTIL IT STOPS.INSTALL OIL PUMP AND 2 RIGHT SIDE OIL PUMP MOUNTING BOLTS .TORQUE BOLTS 14 - 17 FT LBS. POSITION THE CHAIN ON THE PUMP AND SPROCKET AND INSTALL THE SPROCKET.TORQUE BOLT TO 35 FT LBS VERIFY THAT THE CHAIN IS POSITION CORRECTLY. ADJUST THE CHAIN SAG TO 0.315 - 0.472 INCHES 8 - 12MM BY TURNING THE HEXAGON ADAPTER IN THE OIL PUMP, THEN INSTALL THE LEFT SIDE MOUNTING BOLT. INSTALL OR CONNECT THE FOLLOWING. INSTALL BANJO BOLT FOR THE OIL RETURN PIPE FROM THE OIL FILTER AT THE OIL PAN, INSTALL THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND CONNECT THE OIL LINES IF EQUIPPED.INSTALL LOWER OIL PAN, INSTALL THE ENGINE OIL.INSTALL THE NEGATIVE BATTERY.
Install oil pump. During installation slowly rotate pump body to ensure driveshaft-to-pump rotor shaft engagement.
Hold the oil pump base flush against mating surface on No.5 main bearing cap. Finger tighten pump attaching bolts. Tighten attaching bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque.
Don't bother. Replace the unit.
3.0 liter The oil pump assembly used on this engine is mounted at the front of the crankshaft. The oil pump also retains the crankshaft front oil seal.
Remove the accessory drive belts.
Remove the timing belt cover and timing belt. Refer to the timing belt removal and installation procedures in this section.
Remove the crankshaft sprocket.
Remove the oil pump mounting bolts (5), and remove oil pump assembly. Mark mounting bolts for proper installation during reassembly.
To install:
Clean the oil pump and engine block gasket surfaces thoroughly.
Position a new gasket on pump assembly and install on cylinder block. Make sure correct length bolts are in proper locations and tighten all bolts to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
Install the crankshaft sprocket and timing belt. Recheck engine timing marks.
Install the timing belt covers. For more details, refer to the timing belt cover installation procedures.
Install the accessory drive belts.
Refill the crankcase and start the engine.
Check for correct engine oil pressure and for any oil leakage.
3.3 and 3.8 liter engines
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the dipstick.
Raise the vehicle and support safely. Drain the oil and remove the oil pan.
Remove the oil pickup.
Remove the chain case cover.
Disassemble the oil pump as required.
To install:
Assemble the pump. Tighten the cover screws to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
Prime the oil pump by filling the rotor cavity with fresh oil and turning the rotors until oil comes out the pressure port. Repeat a few times until no air bubbles are present.
Install the chain case cover.
Clean out the oil pickup or replace as required. Replace the oil pickup O-ring and install the pickup to the pump.
Install the oil pan.
Install the dipstick. Fill the engine with the proper amount of oil.
Connect the negative battery cable and check the oil pressure. Check for any oil leaks.
Remove oil pan, making sure to drain oil first. Remove oil pump attaching bolts. Lift off oil pump and withdraw oil pump drive shaft.
INSTALLATION;
Prime the new oil pump by filling either the inlet or outlet port with engine oil. Rotate the pump shaft to distribute oil within the pump body. Insert oil pump drive shaft into block dwith the pointed end facing inward. The pointed end is closest to the pressed-on flange. Place oil pump into position with a new gasket and install attaching screws. Tighten the screws to 15-22 foot pounds of tourque. Clean and install the oil pump inlet tube and screen assembly with a new gasket. Tighten the bolts, then replace the oil pan.
Oil Pan;
Clean of any debris and replace gasket. Fit the oil pan bolts and tighten in two steps. Start from the rear/left hand side and tighten first, then tighten the bolt in the front/right side. Alternate from rear to front, working from back to front and front to back.

Follow the service procedures under Oil Pan Removal and remove the oil pan assembly.
Remove the oil pump retainer bolts and remove the oil pump.
To install:
Prime the oil pump with clean engine oil by filling either the inlet or outlet port with clean engine oil.
Rotate the pump shaft to distribute the oil within the pump body.
Install the pump and tighten the mounting bolts to 14-21 ft. lbs. on
2.0L and 2.3L engines; 6-10 ft. lbs. on 2.8L and 2.9L engines or 13-15
ft. lbs. on 4.0L engines.
Do not force the oil pump if it does not seat readily. The oil pump
driveshaft may be misaligned with the distributor shaft assembly. To
align, rotate the intermediate driveshaft into a new position.
Install the oil pan as previously described. The oil pumps are not serviceable. If defective, they must be replaced.

Raise van place on 2 jack stands
drain oil remove oil filter fill new filter install.
remove bolts from oil pan,
remove oil pan..
remove 2 bolts that hold oil pump and tube.
install new pump and tube tork bolts to 45 fp
replace oil pan gasket and install oil pan
tork pan bolts to 35" pounds
install drain plug
fill with oil
start and check for leaks
This Depends on a 2 Details, ENGINE Size 4by4 or NOT. Most are Fairly Simple Once the Oil Pan has been Removed and the OIL PAN is Normaly the HARDEST Part of it
AFTER OIL PAN REMOVAL
Remove the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump, Pump Screen and Deflector Removal.
A loose screen or pipe assembly can result in an air leak and loss of oil pressure. For more information, refer to Oil Pump Clean and Inspect.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE .
Install the oil pump and the oil deflector. Do not reuse the oil pump drive shaft retainer (4). During assembly, install a NEW oil pump driveshaft retainer. Refer to Oil Pump, Pump Screen and Deflector Installation.
Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement
