SOURCE: How do you check if altenator is charging battery,

Most vehicles if you get the car running and unhook the positive battery cable it will stay running that is because it is running off the alternator. if it dies like your talking about I would most definitely say your alternator needs to be replaced. Most likely when you jumped your father in laws pick up there was a bad ground somewhere and your alternator got a surge of electricity and it fried it. Hope this helps.

How do i get my car running again it broke down i got a jump made it home and next day wont start no dash lights radio it doesnt do anything what is wrong ?

Give the battery a boost. If the car starts and stays running, chances are the alternator is ok. If the vehicle will not stay running, once boosted, there will be a charging system problem. Possible alternator. If the battery is more than 5 years old, it can also cause problems as the life expectancy of a battery is 5 yrs. Very doubtful you have a starter issue. I would bet on a battery or alternator/wiring issue

I have an 05 f150 fx4. 5.4 ltr triton 4x4. truck wont fire. it rolls over really well. we think its something with the fuel pump.

I had a similar problem w/ my 2004 F150. After a number of failed attempts at a diagnosis, including installing a new fuel pump, it was finally found to be the fuel pump driver module. This is a small rectangular box mounted to the frame in the area of the spare tire. The function is to send a variable signal to the fuel pump so that your engine gets the proper amount of fuel. Anyway, the issue is that the box is mounted against the frame rail and it catches a good deal of road grime and debris. The housing is aluminum and it will corrode through to the circuit board inside. My truck would sometimes just falter a bit and keep running and other times would die completely and not restart. Have your mechanic check this next- or do it yourself. It's ~$70 part (at least for my F150).

Good luck.

Battery is drained

try an old fashioned battery boost from another car or truck. leave the other car running while boosting your. run booster cable from the booster car to your truck make sure to run them the same way on each battery. positive on booster to positive side battery on the truck. run the negative from booster car to negative on your truck. allow the car to run for about 10minutes before you attempt to start your truck. this allows your battery to build up enough charge for the start up of your truck. after your truck starts take the cables off right away. let your truck run for at least 15minutes to allow time for your battery to build up before you attempt to drive it.that way if it should die, you'll have enough charge on your battery for a restart. thank you for choosing fixya.com hope this helps.
