Fixya is a great forum for problems of a general nature but you want specifics and there seem to be a goodly number of Isuzu forums out there. That's where I would be looking for answers to your problem.
SOURCE: i have a 92 don,t know if its the rear end or the front axles.
It sounds like your 4WD front locking hubs maybe sticking on. These were automatic locking hubs for this model. Ensure your out of 4WD and then just quickly reverse for a short distance the quickly go forward for a short distance. Repeat this 2 - 3 times, this should disengage the hubs.
If the noise persist you will have to get them removed and lubricated again. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
