99 excel 16v engine diagram

I have a 1999 Hyundai excel and I don't know where to add clutch fluid to it, also having trouble with stalling when idling, worse still when I try to start after stalling it won't start warm, I have to wait to start it again the longest so far being 6 hours before it would run reliably again, any solutions?

The clutch fluid resovoir is at the bulkhead just beside the brake resovoir but a bit lower , it is usually metal and not opaque and about the size of a D cell battery, much smaller than the brake resovoir. with the stalling issue when did you last have a service ? if recently i'd get the OBD codes read as this will pinpoint the faulty sensor/switch saving you time and money searching blind , at a guess i'd go for something on the spark /ign but the OBD will confirm what is faulty, keep me posted if you wish

The clutch reservoir would be next to the brake reservoir.

1. Drive the vehicle until the fluid temperature reaches normal operating the usual temperature [80-90°C (176-194°F)]. 2. Place the vehicle on a level floor. 3. Move the selector lever sequentially to every position. This will fill the torque converter and hydraulic system with fluid, then place lever in "N" (Neutral) position. 4. Before removing the dipstick, wipe all contaminate from area around the dipstick. Then take out the dipstick and check the condition of the fluid. The transaxle should be overhauled under the following conditions. a. If there is a "burning" odor. b. If the fluid color has become noticeably blacker. c. If there is a noticeably excessive amount of metal particles in the fluid. 5. Check to see if the fluid level is in the "HOT" range on dipstick. If fluid level is low, add automatic transaxle fluid until the level reaches the "HOT" range. Transaxle fluid: GENUINE HYUNDAI ATF SP-II, DIAMOND ATF SP-II or AUTRAN MMSP-II. Low fluid level can cause a variety of abnormal conditions because it allows the pump to take in air along with fluid. Air trapped in the hydraulic system forms bubbles which are compressable. Therefore, pressures will be erratic, causing delayed shifting, slipping clutch and brakes, etc. Improper filling can also raise fluid level too high. When the transaxle has too much fluid, gears churn up foam and cause the same conditions which occur with low fluid level, resulting in accelerated deterioration of automatic transaxle fluid. In either case, air bubbles can cause overheating, and fluid oxidation, which can interfere with normal valve, clutch, and servo operation. Foaming can also result in fluid escaping from the transaxle vent where it may be mistaken for a leak. 6. Be sure to examine the fluid on the dipstick closely.0f3ac6e.gif

SOURCE: how d i change a clutch in a hyundai excel 1994

Hi first lift the car and be sure to secure the car that it wouldn't fall when your under the car, remove the wheels then disconnect the negative cable from the battery remove the axles, remove the transmission mount, remove the starter, remove the bolts around the transmission housing once you remove the bolts use a floor jack and put it under the transmission then use a prior and separate the tranny from the engine and bring the tranny to the floor now you have the clutch expose remove the old clutch and pressure plate and pilot bearing now do the same thing in reverse good luck

My 1990 hyundai excel has been sitting for 3 years. It started fine, but the hydrolic clutch pedal seems to be stuck in the up position. I don't recall having problems with the clutch when I was...

Add brake fluid to the reservoir and try pumping the pedal by hand it may get stuck to the floor, then look for any leaks in the line to the tranny, if it is stuck up try starting it in gear and shut it off immediately! Cuz it will try and take off be sure to block the wheels and set the brake, this may help free the slave cylinder from the shaft please rate

Hyundai excel twin cam manual clutch repair

If you don't have the service manual specifically for the vehicle and the proper tools to do the task, i'd suggest taking it to the shop instead. It wouldn't be worth all the trouble. But in case your in need of a service manual, may i suggest going to ebay and checking to see if someone is selling the manual on cd for 99 cents. It may sound like a scam or something because service manuals on cd at the dealer average $150-$200. But if one is offering the manual for 99 cents, buy it. It's actually like a copy of the one they sell at the dealership, so before you start on that difficult task, i advise in purchasing a service manual. If they don't have it on ebay, go to your local auto parts store and buy one for $25. The name would be either Haynes or Chilton. Good luck.

How do you tell if a automatic hyundai excel gbox is slipping

If you step on the gas and the engine accelerates but the car doesn't then that's slippage.

If you press the brake at a stop while you step on the gas you can determine the stall speed of your torque converter, if the engine revs beyond the stall speed then it's the torque converter clutch, TCC clutch solenoid, or a bad converter. Otherwise you need a professionals help.
