SOURCE: Radio code won't work

Yes I've had the same problem you need to switch off the Radio and disconnect the battery again - Leave battery disconnected for about 5 mins and reconnect. then switch on the radio and you should have code displayed. Then type your code number in and away you go.

How to get my radio to work after the battery went flat?

You have to enter the security code which should be with the paperwork that came with the car. If you don't have that, take your title and driver's license to the dealer and for a small (sometimes) fee they will give you the code.

My battery died and was replaced by the NRMA. Now my stereo system does not work. What do I do?

Good old Hyundai. You have to fire up stereo by entering the 'radio p.i.n. code' Nearly all manufacturers keep a database of p.i.n.nos per chassis number, but not Hyundai, if your radio shuts down, and you don't have a Radio Security Card (with the p.i.n.on it) then the set must be removed, model code and serial numbers recorded and then you contact the dealer (service division) with these numbers AND the cars VIN/Chassis number - they ay then supply you with the p.i.n, usually with a fee attached. In doubt, let dealer remove radio.

The battery went dead in my 1999 Monte Carlo and the radio is saying lock. What can i do?

here is what u must do.

GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE:
1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you
get 3 digits on your display. This is the first 3 of 6 digits you will
need, so write 'em down.
2. After doing step one and writing down the code, immediately press
the
AM/FM button to get the last 3 of the 6 numbers you'll need, and write
'em down. (if you wait too long between steps 1 and 2 and the LOC code
displays again, just start over).
3. Call this number, it's a prerecorded message, so don't worry about
having to talk to anyone...1-800-537-5140. The voice will ask if
you're
calling for Chevy, Pontiac, Cadillac, etc... When you here him tell
you
to press "2" for Pontiac, press 206010 and hit the # key. He'll ask
you
for the 6 digit code that you've written down. Enter that and press
the
* key. He will then give you a code, and the option to get additional
4
digit codes, but one should be sufficient.
4. Follow the normal procedure in your owners manual for unlocking the
radio with your new code...press the hour set button on your radio
until
you get the first two numbers of the code, then press the minute set
button until you've entered the last two numbers. Immediately press
the
AM/FM button once the correct code is entered and the code SEC or
"secured" will be displayed on the display screen. Now, just turn the
radio on, and your ready to roll.
There is an additional step you can take to remove all codes from the
radio and start from scratch by entering your own personalized 4 digit
code so that it won't get you in a pickle again! Just repeat step 4
and
you should get a display screen that reads ---. This means the code is
out, and you can now program your own code. Of course, once you
receive
the 4 digit code from the GM recorded message, just keep it in a safe
place, because you can use that same code again and again should you
have any more problems with it in the future. Good luck, and yes, it
does work.

Cant tune radio

Radio probably requires an unlock code, this is an annoying security feature to deture would be thieves from stealing your radio. Once power is lost to the raido it needs to be reactivated by entering a code. The original code would have been found in the manual that came with the vehicle, but you could probably find it online with the right info, car make, year, radio S/N number etc. Good luck

Left key on, battery died..now stereo won't work...says something about a code?

Modern stereos have an inbuilt security code which is there to prevent theft and damage to your car.. If you remove the continuous supply from the radio ( by any means which includes a discharged battery) then the radio will not function until the correct security code has been entered. BE WARNED, some radios will only give you a limited number of attempts at entering this code. If you use up those attempts then the radio will be permanently disabled and may have to be returned to its manufacturer to have the code cleared, this can be very expensive. Check your vehicle documentation to see if the code is given, it may be on a small card ( like a paper credit card) and the manual for the radio will tell you how to enter the code. Follow the manual to enter the code and if you do everything correctly, the radio will spring to life. If you do not have the code, take the vehicle and all your ownership documents and your own ID to the dealership as they will need proof of ownership and your ID to give you the code. Some dealerships will only post the code to you so be prepared for a wait. There is no method of circumventing this security so get the correct code and follow the manual for entering it..

I have a hyundai sonata classic 2000 model disconnected the battery lead to clean them, now the radio will not work I have a security code but not sure how I put it in to radio

Once you turn on the unit, "1 CDE" will appear on the LCD. Then using preset button 1~4 enter the 4 digit security number supplied on security card. After confirming the number, press preset button 5. This should unlock the player. If the incorrect code is entered "2 CDE" will appear on LCD and if incorrect code is entered again, "3 CDE" will appear on LCD. If, after the third attempt, the code is incorrect, the set will turn off. Wait 1 hour before re entering a security code.
