there may be a relay or fuses in the engine compartment in a sealed box compartment. The window light may be a different relay or directly wired somehow to the brake switch on the brake pedal.it could be a blown globe. but i am assuming you checked that out also.
probably corrosion on the ground wire to the bulbs or the wire to the bulb did he check from chassis to connector or just take the bulb out sounds like you need to find a real mechanic
If the lights are switched then the switch controls a rely all lights are switched on bmw. Can use fog lights temporarily. Find rely test with continuity meter when on, disconnect lights first, then turn on lights switch, check for 12v at light bulb terms, if 12v then bulbs bad, if not relay is bad, test with continuity meter, rely should read 0 ohms when lights switched on, infinite open circuit when switched off. If lights work in manual switch pos then solar sensor bad.
No relay in the wiring diagram. There is a 20amp hazard fuse and a 10amp vehicle stop fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. If those fuses are good, and the brake light switch checks out ok, I would look at the turn signal switch next.
Check and confirm, that headlight bulbs are glowing. If the bulb itself is faulty, it will not light. If bulb checked out, ok, then other possibility can be headlight fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. There are two 15a fuses located in the fuse holder assembly on the driverside engine compartment.Check both this fuses. Also check the relays in the fuse compartment.-------- If any of the fuse or relay is blown, replace that and see.But if all fuses and relay checked ok, then its quite possible that problem is with head light switch itself. Its getting short.------------ This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.
Hello compwizard
The next thing to check is the brake light switch. The switch is located
under the dash on the left side of the brake peddle bracket. There
should be constant 12v into the switch and 12v out when brake is
applied. Use a 12v test light or volt meter to check the switch. The switch is a fairly common cause of the problem you have.
Hope this helps
the problem is a bad flasher. $10.98 at advance auto. remove panels under steering wheel with 9/32 socket. It is hard to see turn blinker on to confirm it should tick each time. should take about 1/2 hour.
