SOURCE: i can't find the valet switch on my 2001 Honda Accord

Look under dash above brake pedal......it should be mounted there. Or in some rare cases can be taped into wire harness .....not on lower edge of dash.

SOURCE: Honda civic 2004: the car alarm (factory

This may sound really dumb but have you tried shutting the alarm off with the remote before turning the key? I am sorta wondering if your key is worn out and the alarm system reads it like someone putting a screw driver in there to unlock it. Just a thought. I am guessing here so please be gentle on me. 2000 Tundra security system will not reset has shut down everything and will not crank. Tried the key in the door, key in ignition, searched for a valet button or toggle, nothing. No valet button

this year model did not come from the factory with a security system but many were installed at the dealer, is there a button under the steering column? if so i recommend you delete the alarm, if you ever have issues with the battery this will happen again. follow the wiring from the red light to the alarm control module and unplug the main clear connetor from the unit, also at the ignition switch you would have to unplug the ignition switch connector from the wire lead that goes to the alarm and reconnect the trucks factory connector to the igniton switch to take the ignition out of the alarm circuit

I had to change the battery. After replacing the new battery all systems work, but the car won't turn over and the factory alarm is blaring. How do I disable the factory alarm? I do not have the...

Hi,
If you have the Toyota factory alarm, there should be button under the driver's side dash to reset the alarm....Look for it 1st, then read below.

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking, to the ON position.

Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

Td

Lost remote to alarm on 1996 honda civic need to change battery

I had this happen today and called an alarm installer. he said to connect the battery cable (id unhooked it to stop the blaring) then open the door to set off the alarm. then torn on the key ( even tho it wont start the car , turn it on anyway) then look for a toggle switch ( AKA a valet switch) with the key in the on position flip the switch. ( when I did this a noticed a tiny red light come on to the left of the steering column) I turned the toggle back to the original position and then I tried to crank -AND IT CRANKED WITH NO SCREAMING ALARM!!! I was so happy, I had to post this in case it could help someone else.

Factory alarm

Sounds like it has an after market alarm in it? Some times you can unhook the battery and then put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position and them hook up the battery with the key on and this will clear the alarm. If it is a factory unit you may be able to use the key in the door locks to shut it off or try the same thing as the aftermarket reset.Don't short anything that can fry things. If it is a factory alarm with keyless entry, you should buy a key fob and program it and avoid future problems. You can program this by cycling the key on and off either 6 or 8 times, ( can't remember) and the door locks will lock and unlock on thier own to let you know you are in program mode push the lock button on the remote and it will lock and unlock again to let you know it is programed. Hope this helps....Dan
