IT IS LOOKS LIKE A FUEL PRESSURE LEAKING INSIDE THE ENGINE OR DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTOR LEAKING . TRY DISCONNECTING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. AND CRANK THE ENGINE IF ALWAYS CRANK WITH OUT OF FUEL (CRANK WITHOUT START) YOU HAVE FUEL LEAK INSIDE THE ENGINE
REMOVE THE INJECTORS RAIL UP EVERYTHING CONNECTED,PUT BACK THE FUEL PUMP RELAY TURN THE SWITCH ON AND FIND WICH ONE IS LEAKING. (GASOLINE IS FLAMMABLE TAKE CARE)

SOURCE: Truck will not even crank over to start

Test for voltage at small wires on starter solenoid, by the stud on the starter, when someone trying to start. You should have power to it, or one of them, when key is cycled to start position, and none when you let go. If power there, my guess is your solenoid. May have to take starter off & bench test it. If no power to there, locate that relay you hear clicking, and check it, for constant power source going in, and one or more coming out when key cycled, which should be power source for wire at solenoid on starter.

SOURCE: 2000 Dakota 3.9 V6 wont start just cranks, has plenty of fuel

I agree that it's probably the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS).  Without the pulse from this sensor, you vehicle will never start.  Sometimes water from a leaking water pump will run down onto this sensor and cause it to fail.
You can go to MSN Auto for your vehicle and under the "Reliability" tab  you will see the same thing regarding the CPS (listed under Engine issues).

SOURCE: My 2002 Dodge Neon will not start. I have changed the plugs...

HEY! I JUST changed my camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor yesterday and I had the EXACT same problem. Now it starts right up for me perfectly, BUT I now have ANOTHER issue. The Engine seems to have lost all power, it will hardly move when it is put in gear, I'm lucky if I can go above 5MPH!

But yea, if your check engine light is on, turn your key(don't try to start it) back and forth 3 times, once you have turned the key the third time, you SHOULD get a code you can look up in the repair manual. The code will either be a readable code: ei P01684, which is the code for battery disconnection, or your check engine light will flash a series of times, stop, then flash again. Depends on your dashboard. If you have the electronic mileage meter, you will get the readable code. If you are unsure of how to perform this very simple home diagnostics test, you can also RENT the actual plug in tester from AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts. I hope this helps you, I figured my problem out the hard way ei MECHANIC= EXPENSIVE!

1997 lexus ls 400 cranks over but will not start

A mechanic would use starting fluid to suppliment the fuel supply. Then check for fuel pressure with a gauge.
It could be the pump relay among other things.

After hot engine wont start and smells like gas

Most likely causes are bad engine coolant temp sensor OR leaking fuel injectors. Bad engine coolant temp sensor will give computer false reading and computer provides wrong air fuel mixture. Leaking fuel injectors will load the engine with raw gas--just like flooding it. Try pushing the gas pedal to the floor and holding it there when cranking when hot. That forces the computer into "clear flood" mode and it shuts off the injectors. If it starts up with pedal down, that would be a sign of leaking injectors.

My Samurai wont start . It is getting gas to the carb and spark to the plugs. Was driving down the road and just died. Getting power everywhere. Starter turns but the motor just wont fire up.

I had a similar issue with my '86....driving home, made a left turn, and engine shut down. Coasted to a stop, and had a look under the hood. Cranked over fine, had gas, spark, but no go! After a tow home, and more in-depth investigating, turned out that the timing belt had broken! The older engine has no interference between valves and pistons, so installing a new belt got 'er going again for about $40. You can look down though the oil fill port or loosen the upper screws on the belt cover to confirm that the valves are/are not moving when the engine cranks.

Will not start (no fuel pressure)

put your emergency brake on, in park, foot on brake, and have someone lay on the ground and rap the fuel tank at its lowest point (this is where the fuel pump is) at the same time crank it to start, if it starts decide where you want to take it to avoid a tow bill and dont shut it off till your there. otherwise if it does not start, when was the last fuel filter replaced!

Does the electric fuel pump come on when you turn the key? It should make a buzzing noise for 3 seconds or so.
