That is a key recognition problem. It happens more often with keys that have been made, but it can also happen with stock ones. It could be the key or the lock on the column, or it could even be the ECU. I have dealt with this myself, and spent a lot of money before having to take it to the dealer anyway.

Also try the crv recall replacing the ignition mechanism where you insert the key. I have the same problem and was solved after reading about it in one blog.. it is free. It appears that it got shorted and will automatically kill the engine. after a while it will be cold again and you will be able to start the engine..

Car
not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can
be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it
can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or
no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition
coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned. To
confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required. Click

The brake servo is working fine, this was my first thought but I disconnected it from the vacuum system and the car run fine for a while and then it started cutting out again, so it's not a vacuum problem. I reconnected the brake servo to the vacuum system and removed the fuse for the brake light switch, car runs fine, although no brake lights, I know that the brake light switch wires run to the horn and the ECM and TCM modules, I suspect there is a power problem when the brake light switch is activated, has any one else had the same problem?
