Valve timing is out
recheck the marks
the clue is red hot
needing extra fuel to go
indications are that the valves are retarded in timing

SOURCE: 1992 Isuzu Rodeo Distributor wires 3.1L engine

Hi,
Isuzu seem to have complicated things by changing engines, firing orders and even direction of rotation! As you can see, they've numbered the cylinders the other way than the 3.2L.

The Firing sequence for the 3.1 (traditional distributor) 6 cylinder is as follows -

d6e5b2a.jpg

If you take the distributor cap off, there should be a "No.1" formed on the inside. Stick a lead on this before you put the cap back on and go from there.
As leads are different lengths, you may have to swap a few to find the best fit.

I think 2 of them will look out of place - but that's the way it's designed. Just make use of clips for holding them neatly.

Thanks for using Fixya.

SOURCE: I have a 1993 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2 engine. The Timing Has Jumped

You can do a compression test, compression should be at least around 128 psi with no more then 20 psi difference between cylinders.

For 2WD and 4WD it is the same:
For 3.2L:
Firing Order:
1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
5-------6
3-------4
1-------2
(front of vehicle)
Coil is on the Spark Plug

My 2002 Rodeo cranks won't start has spark and is getting fuel what could it be timing

Timing. In a nutshell, what makes an internal combustion engine run are fuel, air, and fire. And timing is what makes all these elements work. Without proper timing you can have all three elements, but it will not run. TDC on the number one cylinder, on the compression stroke.

COMMON CAUSES FOR MIS FIRING ON 1996 ISUZU RODEO V6

You fried the coil drivers , If you have B+ voltage going into those coils an they are new coils ,there is no control ! You have three wires to each coil ,one is B+ voltage ,one goes to what the wiring diagram calls a coil driver an the other looks like a ground symbol an says common chamber. You should be able to test for control with a test light. Go on youtube an watch a few scanner Danner videos on testing electronic ignition systems .
