Go back to factory wires and make sure you get them right. I'm assuming the factory speakers are still connected to the harness. If the new radio was smoking, it is gone. Get another one. Let me know if you need more help.

wired to the wrong power source it has no electronic noise suppression.

Best way is to take a new wire and place it straight in the fuse box, making sure you dont over load, there are normally spare fuses there go to one of them.

some times when the dimmer switch on the floor goes bad the headlights will cut out. Try replacing the dimmer switch and the headlights should come back on. My 84 dodge had that exact problem.

You will need to check your timing gear and see if it is worn out. You will have to replace the timing cover gasket and a new timing chain.

Does it have a non-factory stereo radio? I have seen the folks that install, wire the dash light circuit to the radio chassis ground.(many times)

Actually, yes, it could be used. The 7 & 8 mm specs are for the insulator diameter/cross section. For the spark, what is important is the center core conductor. Radio suppressed would indicate means that it is designed to reduce interference effect on car radios, Hi-temp would be just that but since all sparkplug wires are designed to operate in the engine compartment, all would have more or less the same capability on this, triple silicon would refer to how many coating/shielding/layer of insulator.
