SOURCE: All of a sudden the driver side window will not roll up.
is it electric windows? if it has electric windows does the passenger window roll up using the switch for it on the passenger door panel? if it works on the passenger door panel and not on the driver's door panel , then your switch on the drivers door panel is bad... replace it.
SOURCE: 2001 oldsmobile alero window off track,
first remove the door panel there are three screws that need to be removed first 2 under the inside door handle and 1 on the lower left hand side behind a reflector then pull off the panel it will be held on by push clips, once inside move the plastic weather bearrer to the side ,run the window half way down you should see 2 window holding brackets pull the window up so you can drop it in the brackets, first get some black window adhesive fill the brackets with adhesive put window in brackets and roll it up and leave it up for 24 hrs.If the brackets are broken you will have to replace the whole window motor assemly which you can get on line for 89.00 not the 250.00 at dealer and you can install it yourself its easy to do.
SOURCE: driver side window control not working
The drivers side window master switch has to be checked for power coming of the switch .
The control should be replaced, but make sure your fuses are good.
SOURCE: Frozen power window
I just fixed a frozen up one on a 2002 Alero, I removed the door panel, unbolted the motor and it had a lot of pressure on it. When re-installed with no preload, the window worked fine. I lubed the tracks with silicone spray just to be safe.
I've seen this many times over the years on GM windows and still can't explain why it happens. Perhaps holding the switch in the up position too long/?
SOURCE: 1996 Oldsmobile Power Windows
If other windows work from the driver's window switches, it's the motor. With age (especially GM windows) the windows move slower and slower until they just quit. *Driver's window most commonly used so it stops b/4 other windows
If you're a do it youself'er the parts are inexpensive and you'll save a lot of money but it is time consuming. I do hope this solves your issue. All the best!
