Transmission slipping I have a crx 5 speed and the clutch or the transmission is slipping. When I start it goes ok but when I go to thrid it sounds and feels like the transmission is slipping. Where do I find the dip stick to check the transmission fluid?

nothing wrong with the clutch
indicates that the throw out bearing is dry and failing
as it goes after a few minutes of driving , it also indicates that there is residual pressure in the clutch system keeping the fingers in contact with the bearing which indicates a clutch master cylinder compensating port blocking up
If the clutch master cylinder has not been replaced in the last 5 years , it is suggested to replace that before you get a slipping clutch symptom

I understand that your engine accelerates fine to high RPM's but your car won't move. Since it is a manual transmission car, the problem may be in a slipping clutch. Probably your clutch is worn and slips.

It's the clutch that is slipping. New clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing is what's needed-usually comes in a package as a full clutch replacement.

Sounds like you need to replace the Clutch. If it won't go while in gear it means your clutch is burned out.

You need a new clutch. A 5 speed is a gear box , they dont slip like an automatic can.

Sounds like the clutches are worn , Try a complete flush, (all the fluid) and add a can of BG transmission additive. If this doesnt work you probably need a rebuild.

-5 Speed Transmission

-Clutch/Pressure plate/Flywheel/Hardware

-Clutch cable

-Manual pedal assembly with same options as your car (Cruise control for example)

-Front, side, and rear transmission mount brackets from 5 speed car, and the actual mount for the rear (Regardless of what people say, it is not needed to drop the rear x-member to do this rear mount, but if you don't have a decent set of tools, you may have to do this to get to the rear bolt.)

-Manual axles. I think auto axles will work.

-5 speed throttle cable to match the the 5 speed pedal assembly

-Auto speedo cable will work.

-Connect the 2 larger black wires that go to the shift position switch in the automatic. These wires are for the starter. In the auto car, they are only connected when the car is in nuetral or park. Solder these two wires together and heat shrink. Use a **** connector if you want to just ghetto rig it together.

-You will get a code 19 and a "check engine light". This is for the torque converter lock up solenoid on the PS9 auto ECU (For my D16A6 Motor anyway, the 1.5 may have a different auto ECU). The car will still run and drive fine, but getting the manual ECU for you car, and cutting off the auto wiring from the harness will eliminate this issue.

-You will need to ground the Green/White wire from the shift indicator switch, this indicates that the car is in "park", and will allow you to remove the ignition key. The alternative is to swap to the 5 speed ignition switch, but you may not want to end up having separate ignition, and door keys if your car currently uses one key.

Price is hard to tell because of price of parts and places vary to do these swaps. Shops around here will covert a auto to manual for anywhere from 500-800 bucks labor only.

you need your transmission rebuilt the clutches are slipping

You can test your clutch, by putting on the parking brake, start car, put vehicle in 5th and release the clutch slowly. If the car stalls, it is likely ok. if it does not stall then your clutch is worn and requires replacement. It sounds like you have maybe an oil leak possibly from the front seal of the transmission, which is leaking onto the clutch plate. this will also require replacement of the clutch and the front seal. also while it is out check the flywheel is not damaged. This could have a dual mass flywheel which are also prone to failure giving clutch problems.

hi if its just second to thrid then the clutch is slipping on thrid gear look at the boxes oil level is important but look at the colour is it red and tranperant as this is ok if its brown its a sign of the clutches slipping i would try a stall test on thrid gear first and if its ok second gear [manually] see is the engine stalls at the correct rpm if you thinkabout it imagine you are in thrid gear in a manuual box and suddenly drop into second it would be hard shifting it could also be a faulty thrid gear solenoid yates210456
