Why does my 2001 ford taurus crank a lot before starting?

Fuel Pressure issue !

Never do any preventative maintenance
or ever look at any data during the year
why it does work okey ?

Have to look at data on a road test & component
test, like all vehicle issues, to find a problem

I get the impression from coming to this site, that no
one does anything but drive a vehicle & never cares to
part with them or spend money to find any problems

Why won't the car start when it has spark and turns over?

If all said is true, squirt some brake clean into the throttlebody and if it starts, replace your fuel filter. If it doesn't fire, the timing belt is gone. This is an assumption you've a standard 3.0, If a 24 valve, your motor is likely trashed.

2001 ford taurus with the 3.0 after sitting a few hours when i go to start will crank and crank and crank for what seems like ever, will start easily after that but when i go to start it for the first time...

Its not the oil, increasing temperature will thin out the oil. If it cranks easily but won't start it could be the spark plugs or the spark plug wires. When they heat up, especially if they are old, they won't perform well. Pull off one of the wires and hold it close to the plug, try to crank the engine and look for a spark. If it sparks them try removing a plug and check to see if it looks wet. If its bone dry it might not be getting fuel.

2001 Ford Taurus - won't start. Cranks really good but engine won't start. Tested with good battery, fuel pump, plugs & wires. Car was driven daily. All of a sudden just didn't start no more. I was...

George,
Lots of possible choices... but junk yard coil as a replacement (easy for you to do) can eliminate that potential problem for just a few dollars.

If that fails, have a friend help you confirm that you have spark - by pulling a plug wire and holding it against (near) a good ground. If it sparks over 1/2 inch - it is not spark.

If that fails, pull a plug wire off a spark plug. Crank the engine for 10-15 seconds. Now remove and inspect the plug for gas wetness. If wet, it is not fuel flow.

If that fails, it could be timing, timing belt, or a large number of other issues - most cheap to fix but time consuming to locate.

Do the above tests then come back and let us know what you find!!

I have a 2001 ford taurus that turns over but wont start, its firing and getting fuel, and the crank sensor is working

Check timing. Belt may have jumped. Aim a timing light at the crank. If the mark jumps around, the belt/chain, has slipped, and will need to be replaced.

2001 ford taurus wont start and anti-theft light is blinking

make sure battery is fully charged and have tested for a weak cell and check out the alternator and the drive belt and if the car has over 40,000miles it needs a tune up plugs wires fuel filter and if all this fails have the timing checked and don't forget the crank sensor to have it checked
