No make, model, or year shown, but on many pre-OBDII models (before 1995), the code 55 (or five blinks, five blinks) meant NO trouble codes. It was a method to let you know your request was received, but it had nothing to report.
Code 12 means that the battery input to the PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key cycles (this is a normal condition).
Code 55 means that you have reached the end of the codes. This is also normal
So if you have a 12, 55 code readout, you basically have no error codes stored.
Here is a link that lists the code sand what they mean.
12 indicates that the battery has been disconnected recently. 55 shows the end of the code sequence. Therefore, whatever problem you are having, it isn't generating a code.
code 12= battery has been disconnected at some point of time, code 12 should be there then others but when you see code 55 then you know theres no more codes stored bec code 55=end of cycle so try to reset the codes by detatching your battery terminal for at least three minutes and reattch. Check and see if you are getting anymore codes
Here is an exact quote from Chrysler, hope it helps. Good luck.
"Code 55 indicates end of codes. If you are retrieving codes, code 55 will indicated that you have reached the end of the code list. Code 55 will always be reported regardless of if there is another code to report or not. If you don’t receive a code 55 when retrieving codes, the power limited light may be burned out (or you may not have done the code checking procedure correctly."
ABS light is nothing to do with code 55 separate fault circuits.
Under dash there are two wires with mini spades at the end, connect one of them to the single black multiplug in position 2. Thats RHS plug inlet when you hold plug with tab lock on top. ABS sensor should then flash up error coded. Ignore code 11 thats a initial flash to let you nknow the difference between a fast and slow flash.
Let me know what code flashes up and I will tell you the symptom,
