(1998 was not available from the dropdown list - this is regarding a 1998 Montana Transport. The radio display and overhead temp display both went out at the same time. The radio still works, just cannot see the display. Can't find much online. Read somewhere it could be grounding issue, but technician said everything looks good and I should replace both units. I'm not convinced- if they went out at different times, I'd consider it, but the displays went out at same time. Any other possibilities? Thanks!
If the lights in the console are functional then it is most likely not fuse related. These consoles are notorious for going bad. You can get a new one at the dealership for $250 (!!!), grab one from a wrecker, or I offer a repair solution with a lifetime guarantee. Check out www.autoclockrepair.com I have removal instructions and info there. Please let me know if I can be of further help, thanks!
Don't know if you have had any luck yet.. the radio displays on those older gm cars do just simply fail , I have had 4 in that 96 to 99 time frame and each one just quit suddenly. I believe as crazy as it sounds that the display runs thru the radio. gm did this in all their newer cars in 2000 and up ..they use a data cable that runs thru the radio and feeds half the dash ..

Check the wiring plug that goes into the back of the mirror. They come unplugged sometimes.
