Where is the tempature switch located - 1987 Volkswagen Jetta

Hey Dave, The resister is located on the left side of the blower motor on the passeger side. There are different applications of this part depending on model. Some models have driver & passenger or dual zone climate controls.This means there can be -2- different speed settings & tempature settings, & Then you have your normal where there is only -1- set of settings for the speed & tempature settings. Some are black or white in color ... Hope this helps

i would suggest a tempature related fault check etc (engine tempature control ) switch

dont know but local auto zone can tell you and even print you out a diagram at no cost to you.

Check the coolant temperature switch. Maybe faulty

I"d say you may have a bad coolant temp. sensor or a bad/faulty wiring connection to it. It should be located near the housing where your thermostat is located. Follow your top radiator hose to find the location.

The coolant temperature switch and fan control switch are located sie by side, mounted in the steel portion of the heater hose that runs from the thermostat housing to the firewall, it is underneath the air intake tube and the ignition coil pack, mounted to the back of the cylinder head. Either drain out some coolant or be very quick, and you can unplug and unscrew each switch from the hose and replace it with a new one. Make sure the engine is cold. After replacing make sure to check the coolant level add as neccessary. The single wire connector switch is for the guage, and the other is for fan control. Hope this helps, let me know.

You need a blend door actuator. It's located behind the radio and a/c control head.

The tempature switch for the fan will be located on the radiator tank, most likly near the bottom or mid way up. It will have two wires in most cases.

With the key on but the car not running, connect these two wires together. If the fan runs, replace this radiator switch.

If the fan does not run, pull the connectors apart going to the fan itself. Jump power and ground to each of these two wires. If the fan does not run, the problem is the fan. If it does run, the problem is most likely the relay for this fan

the cooling fans are run by a relay it's located in the junction box. check this. there is also a thermoatic sensor located near the fans next to radiator. the fans should free spin when the engine is off this is a good indiacator that it's not the fan themselves. if the relay checks out(run engine and switch the fan relay with the a/c clutch relay when the engine reaches 180 degrees you will feel the upper radiator hose get hot the fans will turn on a short time later iof they don't it's the temp sensor near the radiator if they do it's a bad relay...please rate this thanks
