How to remove both halfshafts (from start to finish) off a 1986 Honda Accord with manual trans.?

I have to remove the halfshafts in order to pull the transmission with the engine block. I don't have a lot of the tools needed for the task, so I need to know what the best way is in order to remove them.I have a Chiltons Manual, but it is very confusing to figure out what they are saying to do. Please help me understand the process I need to do the job! Thank you!

I don't think you should try this on your own. Find a friend who has done a lot of mechanical work. not the job for a newbie.

SOURCE: 1998 Honda Accord transmission problem

This transmission have shift solenoids that are mounted on the outside in my personal experience I have rectified shift problem with these transmissions by simply change a solenoid or two. My recommendation is to put this vehicle on a code scanner and find out what is at fault first. If its a solenoid just replace, they are a dealer only part and that should take care of your problem. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA

SOURCE: Transaxle code came up on engine code

P1739 transaxle code, It's a "Problem in 3rd Clutch Pressure Switch Circuit" or sometimes know as Pressure Control Solenoid "C.
That code is for a 3rd clutch failure. It's an internal problem and there isn't a thing you can do to fix it without pulling the transmission. It's a vesy common code when the transmission starts to go.
Sorry for the bad news and good luck

SOURCE: i have a 1999 Honda Accord V6 and cant find trans fill point

Just the very top ring of the transmission dipstick is visible with the air filter housing lifted up. Removing the upper air filter housing and the rubber ducting for the intake will allow enough room for a transmission funnel to be used.

How do I remove both halfshafts from the transmission in order to pull the engine block with the transmission attached

You may have to saw through the stabilizer end links if they're that rusted. Remove the tire rod end from the knuckle. Remove the axle shaft nut. Lift the steering knuckle off the ball joint. Then pry the axle shaft out of the trans

My automatic transmission is slipping once the car gets warm in my 1986 honda accord LX-i

Once a transmission slips-- it is done

Time for a rebuild

THERE IS NO OTHER SOLUTION

It slips,it has done that for awhile, that is an
internally worn out trans

1986-- I would get rid of it

You never install a used trans & $2,500 for a reman
or rebuild, makes no sense.

The whine is a worn out pump or stuck pump valves

There is a loud spinning and whirring sound when you start my 86 Honda Accord. Starter was taken off to see if it was engaging . Felt inside the whole where the starter goes and there were "gaps"...

If its an automatic it is called a ring gear. If its a manual it is the flywheel.

The transmission will need to be removed in order to replace it.

What is involved with replacing the main seal to the torque converter.leaking seal to the torque converter.

Have to pull the transmission off of the engine and then slide the torque converter off and replace.
Remember, the transmission has 2 cv half shafts going into it, so that the cv halfshafts have to be removed.as well.

CHANGE CLUTCH ON 1992 ACCORD

(NOT IN ORDER) Disconnect everything around the transmission, pull both axles out, drain gear oil from trans (3/8" ratchet fits in the drain plug). support engine with block of wood on a jack under oil pan. Remove all bolts and motor mounting around trans, unhook gear shift linkages, remove starter and everything in the way. Carefully split trans from block (MAKE SURE EVERY BOLT IS OUT). You can lower the trans through the bottom of the car if you remove some things (you'll see what's in the way). Let it land on a skateboard or a creeper with layers of cardboard to protect both. When the trans is out follow the instructions that come with your clutch, they all come with easy instructions and a spline alignment tool. Examine the flywheel to make sure it's not scuffed up to bad.

Fill auto trans fluid for 1987 Honda Accord

It's located on the right front (as u sit in the car) transaxle housing, which will be below or nearly below the battery. There are 2 types of trans. dipsticks, one is a screw in type, to check the fluid, the car should be at normal operating temperature, and the engine OFF. The screw in type dipstick should be pulled out, wipe off w/ clean rag, re-insert, but DO NOT tighten. Pull up, and check level. If u tighten the dipstick to check the level u will get a false reading, you must only push "til it makes contact. When finished, tighten by hand only, don't use a wrench.
The other type is just a push in dipstick, located in the same area, it just doesn't have any threads to tighten. Make sure it is fully inserted to check, and when done. countrycurt0

1986 accord auto is stuck in first

You have a bit of metal or clutch material in a fluid passage, you will need to pull the trans valve body and have it hot tanked, if that doesn't fix it you will need an overhaul. Good luck

Transmission slipping in and out of gear while driving

what has happened is there are parts in a honda trans that are not made to handle real world driving.
i had a honda accord that had the same problem, i went to my brother who is a specialist transmission rebuilder and all he did was laugh and told me to get a manual for it.
there is only one ways to fix it and it cost 1000 dollars (NZ) and it will happen again 6 months down the track
