95 4 runner rough idle at start

Missing and rough idle at start, v-6 2 wheel drive. It does it particularly after being turned off for about 3-4 hours.

when is the last tune up as far as new plugs, wires ,cap and rotor?all those combined can cause misfire and rough idle.

I changed the spark plugs 3 months ago, yet one was stuck and had didnt change one for another month. The plug came out by force, yet in one piece. Changed to E3, new cap and rotor. Cables changed 1 year ago. Just had antifreeze changed and thermostat due to faulty thermostat. Got stuck.

Hi, 1994 4-runner hard-start after 3-4 hrs......All the above are good possibilities and should be checked.....I don't know what changing to E3 means exactly, but if it means changing the spark-plugs, it could be that the plugs are too cold or too hot ....it is probably best to stay with the factory recommended plugs ....some plugs are hot and some are cold ,in case you are not aware of it.......good luck with it....Frankie Don.

I was just going to ask when was the last time you did a tune up? fuel filter, spark plugs, oil change, etc.

SOURCE: 4 runner surges when idling and once warm doesn't start

Something is riching or leaning this vehicle out at the wrong time. I'm gonna go with ERG valve being stuck in the open position. The only time this thing should work is at crusing speeds. Once the car has cooled down the fast idel cam takes over and prevent it from stalling. Once temp is within range idle cam stops and EGR is dumping into the mixture.
Use shop manual to do proper testing for the valve( probably a hand held vacuum pump is all you will need and gum out to free it up but you should properly replace it if it turns out to be the culprit.

This sounds like a vacuum leak. Possibly at the brake booster. There is a check valve on the vacuum booster. Check it by pulling it out and see if you can blow thru it both ways. Air should flow freely in one direction and NO air passing thru the other way.

Engine missing, particularly in idle, or dies when turning

The intake gaskets leaking would cause the engine to have a misfire. Get a can of Brake Clean and spray in around the intake manifold on the top of the engine while the engine is running. The engine idle will go up or down if there is a leak. Also try swapping the spark plug with another spark plug to see if the misfire moves to another cylinder. If it moves then you have a bad spark plug. I hope this helps.
