It probably is the converter. The check engine light has nothing to do with maintenance at all, nor does it really directly concern the engine. The check engine light comes on for emmission purposes. Such as converter, loose gas cap and all kinds of sensors.

SOURCE: White smoke come out of exhaust Subaru Liberty when I start, when start driving it desolves?

Hi the oil control rings in the engine could be getting worn and not sealing properly when cold, however they will expand when warm and stop the smoke but will gradually get worse over time

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 8Cyl4.7L When when driving over 50 miles per hour will lose all power whats wrong?

When you say it loses power, do you mean electrical power or engine power ?
You would need to look at the fuse boxes for a loss of electrical power, and use a scanner or code reader to check the computer for trouble codes for a loss of engine power.

Randomly loses power and sometime dies

1st thing to do is have the system tested for the code that caused the check engine light to come, you may also have a fuel pump starting to fail or many other things, the check engine light may be the key. How many wiles on the car?

How many gallons per hour does this car lose?

hey
at the begging u should clarify how many gallon u used.
112 miles at 28 miles per gallon --> 4 gallons burned (112/28)
So that means we leaked 11 - 4 = 7 gallons

Now figure out how long the car was driving.
112 miles at 64 miles per hour --> 1.75 hours

So, leak was at a rate of 7 gallons in 1.75 hours
7/1.75 = 4 gallons per hour leaked.
