I have a 2003 GMC Yukon XL. The power drivers seat worls in all positions up/down , tilts , etc. but will not move forward or back. it was recently working but strangely enough the seats would only move in the opposite direction you moved the switch and now does not work at all. is this a bad switch or seat motor? Other ideas, thanks.

get a test light and check to make sure that you have power to the switch that move the seat back and foward if you have power going into the switch then check to see if you have power comming out when you move the switch if so then check the wires going to the motor and all so check to see if power going to the motor you may have a bad motor that move the seat back and foward hope this helps you

Start with looking under the seat and see if the drive has been knocked out from stuff under the seat.

SOURCE: 2002 Envoy Forward / Back seat motor no longer functioning

First of all did you check the fuses? There should be one for the seats. If they're ok then get a Haynes Repair Manual for your 02 Envoy it'll probably even have illustrations showing you how to do it. Its my best advice, you can get one from just about any auto part store.

SOURCE: Yukon XL driver side seat not working

There is a seat module under the seat that reads the inputs from the switches and then sends power to the motors, disconnect and reconnect and it may reset. If not you will have to check inputs at module. There is more than one connector on it, you will have to disconnect the power supply.

2002 GMC Yukon. Truck doesn't start sometimes?

Lots of help here. You need a good auto-electrician with a pro grade scan tool. There are soooo many modules in that vehicle and I have a vague recollection there is a box of tricks under the seat!.

How do i let down the rear seats in 2003 gmc yukon xL

FYI- I'm taking a shot at this one based on my 2003 Montana so take it for what it's worth.
My van seats have a very small level on the drivers side of each seat. Pushing the lever down allows the seats to fold down while pulling the lever up allows them to recline. There is also a small ******** the back side of each seat which when pulled allows them to be folded down.
Hopefully your 2003 Yukon seats are similar to my 2003 Montana seats and this will work for you

When i move the driver side controls in my 2003 yukon to make the seat go forward, it goes back. when i move it to go back, it goes forward.

Hi.
Its most likely the motor connector plug is reversed polarity. If you have been repairing of have at any stage done a recent past perfomed any modification or adjustments to the seat wiring . You should revisit your repair ! Hope this helps Good Luck

Polarity reversed on power seats ...when attempting top move power seats to the forward position..the seat moves backwards and visa versa.

It shouldn't be possible to invert connector plug but what ever you did prior to this situtation is suspect ! Try reversing the plug wiring , It's designed to turn in both directions and will not damage the motor ie back / forward. Good Luck

Front driver seat only moves apx. 2" back from the front of the track. Fuses are good. Back of seat controls work. The pre sets do not move the seat back.

Make sure there is nothing obstructing the seat from under the seat track.Sometimes things fall down there and will jam the seat track.Move the seat up all the way and look it over real good under the seat.Hope this helps.

Seat memory

How many buttons are there?
Most times there are three (3) related to the seat positions, with a number 1 on one, and a number 2 on a second. The third button (usually on top of the other two) is an "exit" button (usually) that moves the seat to the full forward position, allowing the rear seat passenger more room to exit.
As far as the memort goes - put the seat in your favorite position - height, forward / back position, etc. Once you are ok with that, press and hold the number 1 or 2 button for approximate 8 seconds. You should hear a beep or tone that indicates the memory has the position in memory. Some Yukon models (i.e. 2004) also require that to commit the seat setting to permanent memory, you have to push the button again (as if you were confirming the setting) and you will hear a similar confirmation tone.

Front driver seat adjustments. Push control forward seat goes back; push control back seat moves forward. Easy exit feature moves seat forward

probably the switch is installed backward in its cover so remove the switch and rotate it and put it back
