Broken lifter arm 96 honda prelude?

Interesting question. If you think a lifter arm, which I presume is also called a rocker arm, is broken, remove the valve cover and find it. All the rocker arms are visible, and should be easy to see.

I cant get a rocker arm to tighten down on my 96 taurusit torqs down but stays loose .the push rod is in place but it is not firm

You may have a collapsed lifter or it may just be normal if the engine has not been started up yet. If you are installing old lifters (or did not remove lifters for whatever repair you were performing) there may be debris/varnish on the lifter preventing it from returning under spring pressure. (In which case you should probably replace it.) Some new lifters are very soft before the engine is started and the lifter has had a chance to "Pump Up".

I had a ticking noise and i adjusted the rocker arm and most of it went away. Could this be the only problem? It is a 96 pontiac sunfire

if high milage motor seems fine leave it as is-not proper way to fix either have worn cam, rocker, or bad lifter. old chevy motors with car running was zero latch no ticking 3/4 to 1 turn to center lifter plunger

Timing belt remove

You have to loosen the bolt that goes on the pulley with the arm and spring.

The rocker arm ticks

before trying too much the lifters will sometimes bleed off some of the prime they have. first try putting in a pint of marvel mystery oil. if that doesn't fix it run an oil pressure test to see if you need a new pump or new lifters
