You may have damaged the engine. So that being said either a bad rod bearing or other issue may be something needing to pull the engine. How is the oil pressure. A rod knock is east to hear. To faster the rpms the worse the sound. Rebuild or replace.

Mate.Before you let ANYONE pull the engine apart,get the timing checked.I am only going on your description but it sound like the motor is "knocking".It means the timing is wrong and is a cheap fix.Hope this helps
If the engine knock is coming from deep inside the engine, the I agree, the rod is knocking. If the sound is coming from closer to the top, it could be a valve lifter or push rod you are hearing. This isn't as bad, they last longer and synthetic oil or oil treatment helps. If this doesn't happen all the time, if it's occasional or you hear a pinging noise, you could just have a bad knock sensor.
If this sound only happens when you first start it in the morning, and then goes away, then you are experiencing either lifter ticking, or piston slap. These both are fairly normal for this vehicle when it's getting higher in the miles, and before the oil gets to all the parts. Once you shut the engine off, the oil drains down, and it has to recirculate some of it. This takes a couple of seconds sometimes, and you hear this knocking sound when it happens, especially if it's cold out, or you are using thicker oil than recommended.
If the knocking sound continues after the vehicle has been running, then you need to have someone check it out for sure, because you could have a connecting rod knocking. This means that your engine is about to go, and you should not drive it.
ck intake gaskets make sure there is no antfreze mixing in oil and breaking oil down if gakets are ok run a factory oil filter and go up agrade in oil such as 10w40
