use the pressure test port on the top of the engine, it is on the fuel rail that supplies fuel to the injectors, looks like a tire valve, will have a plastic cap on it.

Wow! People giving bad advice!

Ok, This trans doen't have a dipstick. The fill cap IS the red cap at the top of the trans. But to check oil level, a pipe plug needs to be removed from the trans case - under the passenger axle. Vehicle must be running in park and level. When the oil runs out of the hole it is full. If not add until it does.

Just be sure it is level and running.

A pain in the *** YES it is

Two places to look...if you have separate injectors for each cylinder then regulator should be at the front end of the fuel rail. If you have throttle body injection it is on the throttle body itself.

Sounds like you have a bad fuel pressure regulator.Take the vacuum hose off the regulator and look for fuel if there is fuel present replace regulator. But if you don't have in vacuum hose hook a fuel gauge up to fuel rail then start the engine look at reading on gauge now pull vacuum hose off and if pressure does'nt rise 5-10 psi replace pump.

it sounds to me that the sensor your talking about is the camshaft positioning sensor. It regulates how much fuel you get to your engine, so that is also why you have the fuel smell as well.

1989 cavalier z24 dies at stops and transmission kicks!

replace all vac lines first , then you need to get someone to run fuel pump pressure test to be sure you are getting proper fuel pressure , then take o propane torch ( not lit of course and go around all vac lines and intake with motor running and see if motor speeds up when you are holding it next to any suspected vac leak the tranny in this mod shifts off electric solenoids check to be sure all battery connections are clean and that i wire that ground the motor off the battery is in good condition and clean and tight , however the main care should be to vacuum and fuel pressure
