The car won't start when I press the ignition button, but the lights and radio work. When my husband jumped the battery, it was fine until I turned it off again. If the battery is low, why did I not get the battery indicator on the dash. There are no messages on the dash that gave me a red flag.
Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 minutes then reconnect it...verify that the battery is charging properly..sounds like the battery does not have enough cranking power..if he jumped it and it ran okay until you shut it off, the alternator is working properly, battery needs replacement...cheers.

usually multiple clicking (like a machine gun) does indicate lw battery voltage. did you get 11.9 volts with it running or car off? with running you should be over 13.6 min up to 14.0 volts. these cars have a fair amount of electronics with some residual voltage draws which may shorten battery life. 4 yrs is not too bad. i would consider replacing battery

you need to replace the Park Neutral Safety Sensor on the bottom of the Transmission. Should only be a $125.00 part. Your battery and starter are fine. Replace it and iy will be fixed.

Your immobilizer is enabled. Try locking/unlocking the doors with the remote five (5) times, this should remedy.
SOURCE: valet key will not start volvo s80. turns in
thats because your regular key probably has an electic connection to the car so go to your volvo dealer and they should be able to clear anything up or replace it with a key that will work
