Whistle from turbo.. 2007 mazda bt50 2.5 diesel turbo. . While accelerating I get this whistle noise in the cab. High pitched sort of. it sounds like its around the passenger side footwell.. if driving normal is makes the noise at around 1500rpm. Its really starting to bug me. What ive checked. All hoses and clamps associated with the turbo, intake and intercooler. Pressure tested between turbo outlet and intake manifold. No leaks. Maintained 25 psi.. ive disabled the egr by blocking the vacuum hose on the actuator. . No obvious leaks. . Is this sound just normal turbo noise with this model? ? I've owed 6 different types of turbo diesels over the years and none of them sounded like this. ..

Locate the waste-gate and see if you can cover it temporarily while driving. see if this changes it any. It could have a pin sized hole in the diaphragm. just a guess.

SOURCE: 2004 Dodge 2500 diesel, manual trans. noise/whistle

If your certain the noise is from the transmission, you need to take this vehicle to a shop you trust. It sounds as though the fluid pump in the transmission is either starving for fluid, due to a blocked strainer, or the pump is suffering a bearing failure. If you continue to run this vehicle, you stand the chance of stranding yourself, or burning the clutches from a lack of fluid. Good Luck.

I had one of our work trucks do something similar. It turned out to be the tube that goes to the charged air cooler was split. This is a large plastic tube that carries the pressurized air from the turbo to the chraged air cooler (it's in front of the radiator) then back to the engine.
Start the engine and have some one hold it at a fast idle and feel around for an air leak on those tubes. Be careful not get your hands in the belt or fan.

Whistling when accelerating outlander turbo diesel

turbo whistle is common as it comes from the tips of the compressor wheel passing through the sound barrier and the turbulence occurs. IN the older trucks you would the turbo whistle as the engine reached full RPM just before a gear change. In smaller engine it is not do noticeable as there is an excess of air pressure that keeps the compressor wheel at a lower rpm and the pressure is dumped out. Turbo compressors reach revolutions in excess of 120.000 rpm under full load If it has just started to make the noise then check the intercooler system for leaks--loose clamps--- splits - Have the turbo compressor checked for damaged fins from the ingress of fine dirt from a bad air filter---check the air filter is not blocked as the turbo speed may result from running in a partial vacuum ( no load on the compressor wheel)

My 2007 Land Rover Freelander makes a whistling sound when vehicle is idling. Sound goes away when accelerating or applying petrol?

it may be a turbocharger if so equipted, lots of turbocharged cars whistle as the unit gets older..only other thing I can think of is something with the exhaust system.. get it looked at by putting the car up on a lift and inspecting it..now some cars also whistle thru the radio ..this is called alternator whine and is usually correected by a filter in the power line of the radio...good luck

2003 PT Cruiser turbo. Has just 67k miles on it. Just began making a low pitched loud whistle sound on acceleration or load/uphill. Gets louder with greater acceleration/load, no decrease in power.

I took my car to Keller's Auto Repair in Gettysburg PA, He specializes in Chryslers. I have 04 Cruiser with 2.4 Turbo that had the same whistle noise, and check engine light on. He found code P0301. The noise was caused by the #1 Cylinder injector O ring. Check them out on facebook. They will help you.

Whistleing sound on golf gt tdi

It's probably the turbo you're hearing. They spin very fast and make a noise like that. Ever hear an 18-wheeler go by you and accelerate and they make that high-pitched whistle? That's the turbo spooling up. Now, if it sounds like a dentist's drill, that's usually a sign that the turbo is failing, but I'd bet that since your car is under four years old, as long as you've kept up on the maintenance, it's the normal turbo spool.
