If the noise sounds like a roar or growl increasing with speed, may come and go depending on turning left or right then you have a wheel bearing that has failed ( example; loud on right turn=left bearing as it is now loaded)

SOURCE: noise in car rear

The rear differential either needs versatrak fluid added or changed.
Located at the rear of the vehicle loosen the top hex bolt and stick your finger in if you don't feel any fluid add some. If you do feel fluid see what color it is. It should be clear if not then its time for change.
Versatrak fluid can be purchased at any GM dealer .You will need almost 4 bottles to do a full change.Once you have either added or changed the fluid do some circles around left and right and drive a few blocks then circle around again and your groaning noise should be gone!

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Aztek - AWD disable light and Anti Lock Light

AWD disabled from a sensor unit in rear differential that senses high temp. This thing is over $300. Whine is from fluid. Need to change fluid. This versatrack fluid is about $40 per bottle and you need 3 bottles. Thumping noise is from loose rear knuckle bushings. These are part of the entire rear knuckle assy. and you must replace complete knuckle.

SOURCE: 2002 trailblazer making loud humming noise when driving

When you turn right - you're taking weight off the right wheel.
If the noise dissipates - the passenger side wheel bearing is most likely to blame.

Thanks

How can you tell a wheel hub has gone bad

First get vehicle off ground make sure its supported good then with wheels off the ground see if any play in wheel see if moves up/down and side to side if any play or if when driving it makes a noise try swerving slightly side to side if noise changes the hub is going bad so when the noise stops it will be the opposite side that you turn so if you turn left no noise it will be on right side and so on hope this helps you

My car will start but I cannot move it into drive. When I push on the brakes to transition from Park to Drive the brakes make a hissing noise...

The hissing noise could be the power brake booster leaking vacuum. The inability to shift out of park is likely to be a bad SHIFTER INTERLOCK SWITCH attached to the brake pedal under the dash.

Lexus 2002 es300 front letf. behind tire makes

Yes, I would have to agree that it is a wheel bearing if the noise is only coming from the left side. Not uncommon on this year and model.

Brakes makin nosie

Sounds like a wheel hub assembly is bad without seeing it. Alot of GM vehicles have the ABS wheel speed sensors built into the hub assemblies. Should be able to narrow the noise down by driving the car slightly turn left and right noise should change from loud to soft when turning the wheel. ( if you turn left and noise gets louder hub on right front is noisey.Opposite will occur if left side is bad)
