Negative battery terminal

I have a 2000 Ford Focus Zetec. The battery was stolen from my car, in the process the thieves cut my negative battery terminal leaving the wires just cut... Would anyone know how these four wires connect, besides the obvious one which is the ground one connected to the chasis/body, there are also a black wire with a red stripe, a black wire with a yellow stripe and a black wire with a light blue stripe... Please help.

Normally there is only one earth wire on a battery as all units earth through this wire to the negative terminal. I would not bother trying to reconnect the cut wires as this will lead to problems further on. Go to a wrecker that handles you model vehicle and get the positive terminal wiring loom and replace all the cut wires . Leave the negative terminal off while you are doing this.

How can i replace fan belt for a 2000 ford focus 16 v zetec and how the fan runs on polley?picture show.

      • Things You'll Need:
      • Wrench set
      • Jack
      • Jack stands
      • Socket set
      • Ratchet
      • 1/2-inch drive breaker bar

1 Open the hood of your Focus and locate the negative battery cable at the battery. Loosen the clamp bolt on the battery cable end with a wrench, then lift the battery cable off the battery terminal. Isolate the battery cable from the battery terminals by tucking it off to one side.
  • 2

Position a jack under the front of the car and raise it off the ground. Support the car with a set of jack stands, placing them under the front suspension. Lower the jack until the car is resting on the jack stands.

  • 3

Locate the splash shield in the passenger's side wheel well and remove the two retaining bolts that secure it, using a socket and ratchet. Remove the splash shield from the wheel well and locate the serpentine belt tensioner through the access hole.

  • 4

Insert the square drive of a ½-inch drive breaker bar into the square hole on the tensioner and rotate the tensioner counterclockwise, releasing the tension on the belt. Remove the belt from the pulleys and rotate the tensioner back to the home position.

  • 5

Position a new belt in the engine compartment and run it around all of the pulleys except the tensioner's idler pulley. Rotate the tensioner counterclockwise with the breaker bar and then slide the belt under the idler pulley.

  • 6

Slowly rotate the tensioner back to the home position, tightening the belt as you rotate it. Remove the breaker bar, then replace the splashguard in the wheel well. Install the two retaining bolts and tighten them with a socket and ratchet.

  • 7

Raise the front of the car off the jack stands with a jack, remove the stands from under the car, and lower the car to the ground. Install the negative battery cable on the negative battery terminal and tighten the clamp bolt on the cable end with a wrench.

I have a 2000 ford focus with a manual transmition and zetec motor I turn the key and everything lights up but the engine doesnt turn I had it push started and it ran fine I changed the starter and it...

Check for bad grounds, start with the starter ground. Do you even get a click when trying to start? If not then the starter is getting no power and check your hot lead to the starter also. Make sure the battery terminals are cleaned well.

Trying to replace the alternator on a 2000 ford focus

    Disconnect battery at negative terminal.

Remove all electrical connections by unscrewing or unfastening electrical wires.

Remove all bolts that hold the starter on after loosening the belt.

Get the replacement starter and installation is a reverse of the removal.,

Electrical connected directly to the negative terminal

First of all I don't recall any additional wiring or a junction box being attached to the negative battery terminal of a Ford Escort. I do however remember these things being fixed to the positive terminal...

The first thing that should happen is your battery should be removed from the car and fully charged and tested and replaced if necessary. I suggest you note; in the case of a completely discharged battery it is possible to inadvertantly connect the battery charger wrongly and charge the battery back-to-front or so the polarity is reversed.

Once there is a known good battery fitted to the car the correct way around and with any bad connections to or near the battery repaired it will be possible to begin the process of diagnosing the original problem(s).
A car that started with a jump start should now start from the key and the charging system can be tested and repaired if found defective..

I suggest you entrust the work to an experienced person...

Ford focus 1.8 peterol zetec shuderring/missfire

Check your fuell filter. You may have low pressure from a clogged filter. Also do a full tune up, plugs, wires and cap and rotor if it has it. Some fuel injector cleaner may help as well. As a precaution have the pressure regulator on the fuel injection rail checked before you do all the other things. They can go bad without warning. Good luck.

I have a 2000 ford focus 2.0 zetec dual overhead cam with a broken timing belt at low speed. Is this engine a non interference engine?

all Zetec engines (2.0 DOHC) are NOT interference engines. There are deep reliefs cut into the top of the piston to clear the valves when they are fully extended. There will be no valve damage if the timing belt breaks on a Zetec engine.

1993 Ford Explorer battery was stolen and they cut all the cables

which wires ? the ones connected to the battery? or the wiring harness? if it's the battery cables then the large wire is the positive side normally red and the negative side is black and is half the size of the positive wire. The battery will have a + and a - on it so you know that the positive wire is + the larger wire and the smaller is black.
