Mechanical Starter motor was replaced 3 days ago. It drove fine and yesterday I heard a grinding noise slightly. I saw something black plastic hanging down slightly cracked. I will not drive it but drive my partners vehicle till he gets home. I have not told him and am stressed. I am supposed to get a safety certificate also real soon for transfer of owner. Also the fog light on drivers side is out of place from previous.

SOURCE: 2002 Honda Passport, drivers side window goes down but not up??

It would be a switch. Try pushing the switch down hard and wiggling it. It may work which would indicat a switch. Since one direction works It has to be the switch ,

SOURCE: 99' Honda Passport driver side wiper stopped working

the main motor is on the passenger side. there is a link between the to that operates the driver side wiper. the link has to be replaced.. what i am finding is that you have to buy the whole wiper kit which is approx.70 dollars instead of just buying the link or gromet.

SOURCE: 95 honda accord turns over but wont start

Sometimes when a fuel filter is stopped up,and you change it,the fuel pump later, will go out, cause of the strain on the pump.

it sounds like your mechanic didn't put the splash guard on, properly. You'll need to buy a set of splash guard clips. https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/2003-honda-cr-v-5dr_lx_2wd_side_srs-ka-4at/front-fender.html
You can take the splash guard off by removing the clips that were installed. You will need a 10 mm socket to remove the clips. They are two parts - an inner plastic bolt, and an outer anchor. Your car will run and perform pretty well without the guard- it's just there for aerodynamics. I hope that helps.

Grinding when turning key on to start ignition

Dodges have a gear reduction in the starter, usually. It could be wearing out. Have it checked out at a rebuild shop.

2006 Kia Rio will not turn over

the timing belt will not have anything to do with the motor turning over trying to start. First make sure u do have a very strong battery. Could be a bad connection or a broken wire to starter also.

even if you have all the teeth on your flywheel it may still be slightly warped. which is why you should replace the flywheel or have it checked when you replace the clutch. this could cause your issue by placing the teeth slightly too far away or too close to the starter gear.

Had an oil leak- not major but there for a couple of years. Replaced a starter and after a few days of being just fine but not checking oil, it started with terrible grinding, drove home 2 miles with no...

Have you checked the oil level on your dipstick? You say you had a slight oil leak... but you DID maintain the oil level, right? In other words, you realized oil was coming out so you replaced the oil that had leaked out every now and again? You may have a shot crankshaft bearing, could be a chunked flywheel, or even a defective starter. My guess? New starter engaged but got stuck. The grinding you heard was the flywheel tearing the teeth off of the starter as you drove. You got it home, tried to start it, but there were no teeth left on the starter. Pull the starter... I'll bet it looks like a trainwreck. I doubt you siezed you engine though, especially if it was running when you shut it off.

Won't start. Harsh grinding sound from starter

Starter has teeth that mesh with teeth on the flex plate . most of these type grinding noises are do to missing teeth on the starter gear or flex plate missing teeth .Does your vehicle have a automatic transmission ? Have you had starter replaced lately ?

98 lesabre grinding starter

most likely your bendex wheel in the starter is not engaging the flywheel this could be due to a bad solenoid on the starter. chances are it's a bad starter, i would check to make sure all connections to starter are tight and you have atleast 11.5 -12.5 volts of current in the battery. low voltage can cause this problem as well
